Cam Smith has expressed his disappointment that he will not be allowed to play representative football should he join likely cellar dwellers, Gus's Wizards. An additional Hodges Agency intervention is likely to be added in light of this as the contract bid and signed by the club had no mention of this requirement.

Cameron Smiths contract explicitly says that release for representative honours is at the clubs discretion. Read the fine print that our lawyers snuck in on the seventh amendment and you foolishly signed!

As discussed we are a reasonable club and prepared to allow Cam to play on the basis that we are fairly compensated for the loss of preseason conditioning that he will suffer.

As stated $500k would allow us to structure a special programme around Cam to alleviate our concerns, so he can commit to representative duties.

It is Hodges choice, not ours, to either allow his players to flourish on the big stage or hold them back by being greedy…
