NRL Round Discussion NRL FINALS Week 3, 2025 Discussion

But those three arent just centres though are they. All three are game breakers that can also play multiple positions
I’m not convinced that Burton fits that list. Sure he can add a 40/20 to swing momentum, but those other 2 are tackle breakers. Burton probably could easily go back to the centres and be as useful as he was and all 3 could potentially make a move to fullback. Burton seems a bit like the Mahoney signing at the bulldogs where it was the best they could get at the time, probably on the higher side salary wise, but now are surplus to requirements

An insight into my convo with Chat at bedtime tonight 😂View attachment 14558
The whole chat was just about the defining factors in those elite top athletes who keep the drive to keep winning long after they have secured their legacy and their financial future. I’m not a Panthers fan as such. But you could just see in that last game it felt like Cleary was going up in levels in the game and putting the team (a good team) on his back. I was just interested in where the drive comes from to dominate when you’ve already proven everything as far as the NRL is concerned. Anyway chat bought up those other dudes as comparisons and what is mentally required to stay at the top for a decade or more. And I have to concede if anyone is gonna grab that ‘generational’ great tag and pull off ‘the impossible’ it’s Cleary & Cleary Ltd.

Be interesting to see what type of protection Hughes plays with, the Mal Maninga arm guard comes to mind.

I guess the thing is that the worst he can do is break it again. Till that happens all goods say's Doctor Storm.

Broncos should start Mam and move Hunt to hooker.
The old man duo in the halves was a failure earlier in the season.
Carrigan out is huge too.
Penrith played the best brand of footy you could wish to see last week.
Broncos just gave too many journeyman on the bench.

I keep writing off the Sharks but are they a better team without Toothless McInnes.
Storm are pretty much full strength and if Hughes is ruled out they can play Pezet.

Penrith v Storm final.

Burtons kicking and ball playing puts him there. Whats Herbie without his speed and agility?

Burton has 4 try assists all season. You need someone setting more tries than that up
Burton doesn't make much sense with ball in hand. He's a kicker and a massive kicker at that. And that used correctly can wreck defences who can't defend with wingers back for whole sets of Burton is launching random and frequent 40/20s and whatever the other long kick thing is called. It's such a valuable attack threat if he's launching them for fun every set.

He’s a rugby union 10

I am going Storm here for sure. They have always had a lot of Kiwi's in their team over the years and QLD Origin players. While it is nice for the underdogs to win I can't support the Sharks.
