Crunched down on their per game attacking stats at FB for this discussion:

CNK v TT
15 Games 6
0.1 Tries 0.0
0.1 Try Assists 0.7
0.3 Line Breaks 0.3
0.1 Line Break Assists 0.5
4.2 Tackle Breaks 4.7
0.5 Offloads 0.7
198 Run Metres 154
As expected a decent yardage advantage to CNK and the 43m difference there probably doesn't tell the full story. Besides that I was suprised at the very low attacking output from CNK though neither is lighting it up.

And yes, stats don't tell you who's a better player. We know.

Defensively CNK edges, probably don't need a stat breakdown to show that, though Taine credited with more try savers (flawed stat) and his positioning on line Breaks is excellent.

It’s a good breakdown and I fully agree about it not being the whole picture. I also despise the try assist stat. It’s similarly flawed to the try savers imo. Our last try to Pompey as an example. TT picked the ball up from dummy half, took a step and gave it to Pompey 6-7m out and Pompey beat his man to score. And that’s a try assist?

Agree completely with your summary 👍
However I would have thought it would be hard to drop CHT after his great game Friday night

100% agree the try assist is flawed but I think Taines work in that try isn't as simple as passing to Pomps to do all the work.

He sells it like he's playing long side to get the markers to bite the wrong way, and his first step out from dummy half turns Feagai in enough to stop him getting up hard off the line and square into Pomps, and that half a yard of extra space laterally also left him susceptible to Pomps little in and away.

What was great about it?
Seriously
Same with DWZ’s “ great” performance

I mean everyone shitting about how bad we played yet we had great performances from the weak links in our team doesn’t make sense, unless we all agree their great performances do not move the needle like a great performance should …

Thought CHT had his best game for a while now
Defense and kicking was good 👍
Nobody will doubt the frailty of dwz defensive qualities but his hit ups were great without doubt

My reasoning being, I think TMM has a better attacking game than CHT and I think Blyd has a better kicking game than CHT. I think it’s the best balance we can have in the halves right now. No slight to CHT, I think he’s a decent player, just don’t know what his best position is.

TT made that try - fair he's credited with that... for me it's hard to separate TT and CNK at the back ... they're fundamentally different, so depends very much on what sort of plan they're expected to play to (to say the obvious)... the same criticism of webby on his decision to drop Boyd for the dogs game probably applies to playing TT at the back on Friday given the slippery conditions ... he's never going o be as effective as CNK when it's that dewy.

My thoughts are that CHT is a better 6 than TMM .TMM's better games have been at 7.

I’ve made a quick gif to highlight a couple of things. Yes he dummies, Sloan sticks with him and there is no second marker. Feagi looks pretty straight on to me but that’s opinion. Pompey then hits him with an in and away to make him miss. Really not seeing Tuapikis try assist. To say his step caused Feagi to not push up hard is generous considering Sloan very much had him covered, but again only an opinion.

If we are talking stats Taine had the speed to run near 100 non contact meters. Got more fantasy points than any outside backs. Better PTB than Roger. Best with line break assists, try assists and tackle breaks

His try assists and try saving defense at the back was worth like 12 points in a 24 point game. And yes he created the clutch try by choosing to go short side, otherwise it’s CHT bombing to players not Leka or Laban for the 15th time.

CNK is better at up in your face D but Taine saved at least five 4 vs 1 line breaks over the last month

And Berry’s fragile af, I’d be pissed if he comes straight in for TT without proving he can last 80min, we are looking at de facto Cape with Dallin again against the titans 😂🤦

CNK just need to express his marathon energy by getting back faster to take 2 hit ups, and we should kick to his side as he’s a keen chaser, Pompey and Ali don’t have it at chasing, and Cape can get there super fast too on the left side

He literally created a 2 on 2 with Pompey running at pace and those 2 defenders stuck on their feet in front of the the try line 😂

It’s like saying Cleary has no influence choosing which side to run and when to pass causing the defense to standstill resulting in a try

All good brother, happy to have the discussion but you do you. Never known someone creating even numbers was a thing.

Can you GIF up the reverse angle for this?

Also have a look which direction Feagai looks to travel in your gif initially, it's infield. This angle doesn't show it but so does Allan. Thats the half a second that makes the try.

Pomps gets the ball 5 metres out with Feagai pinned on the tryline because of the work of Taine. Look where he is in this screenshot of your Gif, flat footed a metre off the line with Pomps charging downhill.
