You can see that the plan this year with NRLW is about re-establishing ourselves back into the comp and using it as a base to really push the comp in a few years. Hard to have well defined expectations with a team that basically had no pre-season and many of whom had never played league in their lives. But given how much the girls are improving every week, on both attack and defense, you can see what a juggernaut we could become. That was an absolute clinic that they put on just now.

Just imagine where this team will be with a full year under their belt and actual proper pre-season next year with the good systems we have built this year. Every team will fear the wahine in 2026/2027.

I reckon with each passing game the Wahine are improving in every aspect. You have to remember that this squad had never played together and it showed in the early games where their attack and defence were substandard. Some players who had never played league before, recruits from the local comps who found the NRLW a level above anything they'd experienced previously. But the last couple matches they've improved their goal-line defence immensely, found rhythm and combos on attack and their props have been massive in giving go-forward and even dominating the opposition. Curtain and Maliepo are starting to really gel as a halves combination, Api'i Nicholls is pretty solid at fullback and even our centres, who I thought were lightweight, are showing what they can do on defence and attack. I reckon they could make the playoffs, they've still got games to come against the winless Raiders and Tigers. They're a good chance to win 3 of their last 5 games, could maybe jag a 4th win. My daughters and I are going to Hamilton for the Broncos match in 4 weeks time, can't wait for that one.

Not the best weekend for their first game in Hamilton. 3-4k of the most die hard leaguies in the Waikato will be at Davies Park in Huntly for the local GF day.
Game isn't until 7:15pm, heaps of time for the die hard leagies to get back to Hamilton.

If I'm heading down from Auckland, they can make the trek from Huntly!

I'd say they'll mostly head back to their club rooms in Huntly & NGA to get on the piss after a long hard season.

And in keeping with longstanding traditions the Taniwharau clubrooms in West Huntly will still be raging come Monday no doubt.

I'll be there at the Wahs game though, sadly no GF for my team this year, we got knocked out in our semi ffs.

Good chance you'll see TMM and Taine at Davies though with their Taharoa whānau in the early GF. Hopefully plenty of sober drivers for the 2.5 hour drive home they have.

We have a good kicking game developing between our halves.

Thinking about going to the GF.

But will defo make the NRLW.

The more I see of our Wahine play the closer they move to being my favorite team.

The Warriors mens is actually behind them atm on my viewing pleasure scale.

Emily Curtain has improved tenfold since the first few games
There was something wrong with her physically.

Either unfit, or carrying injury or both. But she was a slug out there those early games, looked terrible eh. I had written her off.

I see she has a reputation for being a decent defender, you would not have believed that....

Amazing boot on her, hopefully she is tracking to get fitter and fitter coz she still needs to reshape herself.

Just bought my tickets, looks like they'll have a decent little turnout by NRLW standards from the available tickets.

Crucially they've only opened the lower level in the old stand opposite the hard camera meaning it won't look like a completely deserted stadium on TV.

Unlucky to your club brother .
Been a tight season with everyone getting wins on one another instead of the two premiere finalists dominating the comp like alot expected.

Be heading to Waikato Stadium after the finals.
Hope my club can redeem themselves from last years final.
Dang Lukie😂😂😂
