Current Affairs Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Peace prize is awarded to the person who "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses" in the previous year.

With Netanyahu stating that he was nominating Trump for the prize it had me thinking who would be worthy of a nomination for 2024.

Who do you suggest and why?

No deserving winners lately. Ukraine/ Russia war, Middle East flare up, Chinese tensions. Everyone else picking sides and increasing military spending.

My vote goes to Benji Marshall… his teams never up for a fierce battle 😉

the prize named after the guy who spent his whole life making weapons of war, only to posthumously donate his fortune to various endeavors including a prize to reward peaceseekers?

It is a difficult one @wizard of Tauranga so I think you need to look outside of world leaders and in doing so my nomination would be for someone like Jose Andres who founded World Central Kitchen which is non-profit organisation responding to natural disasters and humanitarian crises by providing meals to those affected. WCK has served millions of meals in numerous countries including Gaza and Ukraine.
They were also involved in establishing the maritime corridor to allow delivery of aid to Gaza
Wiki outlines some of the work they have been involved in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Central_Kitchen

I’d be happy to see David Attenborough for his work for wildlife over the years and other areas too

I wonder who the least peaceful Nobel Peace Prize winner is (in terms of population death count stemming from their actions)?

Any head of a nation that has authorised military action that results in much civilian casualties probably shouldn't get it regardless of long term 'peace' (after the bloodshed wanes).

About as deserving as that time I won the bigass trophy at high school for being best student in Japanese, mostly because I was the only remaining 7th former still doing it as a subject (along with the two other 6th formers who I guess were duking out for it the following year) 😂
