Maliepo was promising, LA-J was handy. Brake looked good but how did they not get her the ball with even an inch of room?

The other edge was pretty dire. #5 did 4 runs for 12m the entire game, that might get you plaudits in union but not in league!

Good start.

Now we know where we are at. Lots of ring rust to sand off.

Fitness was very good considering.

We have some real potential here. Just wish they had some road miles under the belt with preseason games.

Still, call this trial one. Not bad at all.
I thought they were good for the most part - great defence at times, excellent scramble - a tough assignment first up against high quality opposition - only giving away one in the second half a major achievement

Good first outing.

Api had a solid game.
Backrow is a go,11 and 12 had solid games.
L.A - Jones on the ball is a handful.
Ikenasio (3) was was good.
Brake got into it and had a good first game.
Can tell if she gets a small gap she gone.
Paekau was good and her sub Quedly?did a good job too.
Butler was good up front.
Some good bench players.

Should get better every game from here on after playing the champs first up.

Not bad at all. Our captain Api made some shocking mistakes. We played tough in the first half.

Centre Ikenasio , 6 Maliepo & prop Harata Butler were our best. Shakira Baker played big minutes, She was looking good until fatigue set in and she started dropping off tackles. Mikaela Brake didn't get much opportunities to showcase her speed. But had some powerful runs. She's a strong thing! Lol. Multiple defenders finding it hard to put her to ground.

On the opposite side, Emma Paki & Takimoana were non events. Terrible defensively. First half Emily Curtain was a defensive rock. Nice general play. Then went off with a minor injury but didn't return.

Despite the scoreline, Playing the premiers first up. And having a very inexperienced team. I give our ladies a B. Plenty of potential there.

And that ref and bunker are cu*ts. Shocking calls against our wahine.

1 Apii Nicholls (c) - 15/111 (runs/run metres) tried to do too much in the end as we were on the backfoot and made some late errors.
2 Michaela Brake - 11/94, the more she got involved the more happened for us, wasted on the wing,.
3 Tysha Ikenasio - 16/164, a beast and one of our best out there today
4 Emmanita Paki - le8/49 leaky edge, didn't do much on attack
5 Payton Takimoana - 4/12 run metres....yeah....flush the dunny and move on
6 Patricia Maliepo - 12/122 Easily best player on the field. Should go to 7 next week.
7 Emily Curtain - 6/27 made lots of tackles in first half but showed absolutely nothing on attack. Got beaten on the inside multiple times.
8 Harata Butler - 10/83
9 Capri Paekau - 7/55,
10 Lavinia Kitai - 3/24,
11 Shakira Baker - 9/83,
12 Kaiyah Atai - 6/49
13 Laishon Albert-Jones, - 10/82

Lumping all the forwards together. None of the cracked 100m while 2 roosters forwards cracked 100. The 100m mark might be a bit harsh on the ladies as they only play 70mins but it's the metric we use at the moment. Kitai only making 3 runs is a head scratcher...she played 27 mins.

14 Lydia Tura-Quedley - 5/33 solid when she came on but nothing to crow about
15 Maarire Puketapu - 7/63 I thought she was amazing, lots of leg drive and might be my favourite player for the moment.
16 Ashlee Matapo - 1/10
17 Matekino Gray - 3/32

It might be crazy, but I want to see this combo next week

6 M Brake
7 P Matiepo

Let Matiepo control the game and Brake to play like an Ethan Strange/Sandon Smith kinda role. She's too good to be out on the wing. If she was in a better team then maybe wing makes sense.

I am wondering if we actually have any bigger ladies to be props, as our bench just didn't have enough. Albert Jones looked great but she was too tired near the end.

I personally don't see us winning many games but I see a lot of potential will definitely follow them. Can't make next week's game unfortunately.

Coach pulled the curtain on Curtain at 58mins.

She literally did nothing that game on attack, made some tackles and got gassed on the inside. 6 runs, 27 metres, no hit ups.
To be fair, do you want your 7 taking hit ups? If they are, I'd suggest something has gone quite wrong.

It's more just showing where her 27 metres are coming from . I don't know how stats are made, but no hit ups means never got tackled with the ball? Or is there a different definition.

But if you're watching the game, she did nothing. She doesn't look like a 7 either.

A hit up is when you're just running it straight off a pass. Not what you want your halves to be doing.

She looked alright in the first 20 but then seemed to do less and less. Tough for a half when your team is on the back foot but not convincing.

Fair on the hit up. But I didn't see her take the line on at all but she has no speed and she didn't show off any skills with the hands or boot. It's one game I know but I feel there has to be someone better
