I haven't, just looking at stats and general observation of, if you haven't played together, it will take time to gel. We don't have the luxury of time.

TMM has played 6 games in NSW.

4 tries
110 kick metres
15 try assists
9 LB assists
8 offloads
104 tackles made
126 avg running meters

I understand that NSW is a lesser league but ppl on here talking like TMM is mud.
Chanel in NRL (15 games):
5 tries
221 kick metres
13 try assists
8 LB assists
20.9 avg tackles made
64.3 avg running metres

On face value, it's a complete toss-up. Boyd has earned it going 15 from 15 in NSW Cup, while Martin could have had a run for the history books at 7 last year if he and Chanel iced more late game opportunites + he has put up some crazy numbers in limited reserve grade games

But, I think with an eye to the future, it gives the edge to Tanah imo..

Martin at 7
Healey moves into 14 for first grade, will get limited minutes, and we'll have less flexibility if/when someone in the backline goes down
• Hanson and Boyd are the halves pairing in NSW Cup for the rest of the year
• Potentially go into next year asking who will be the 7 for the first few months of the season

Boyd at 7
• Martin remains at 14 in first grade, Healey continues to play 60+ minutes and develop in NSW Cup
Jett gets to join Hanson in NSW Cup and develop against better opposition
• Go into next year knowing Boyd will be the 7 until Metcalf is healthy

But you are claiming that TMM & Boyd is vastly superior to CHT & Boyd when the latter hasnt been tried at all. No one has seen the CHT & Boyd combo

Their combo works better than CHT and Boyd.

I mean, I can make assumptions...isn't everyone on this thread making an assumption and/or preference?

It makes logical sense to say, someone who has combo'd with someone else and have shown results will most likely perform better than a pair who have never played together before.

6. Chanel. This one should not even a debate. Why should he lose his position because his halves partner was injured?
This.

If you look at the form of standoffs across the comp this season CHT is amongst the top echelon. He had the game of his life against the Sharks. To drop him based on the injury of another player would be about as disruptive to morale as what's happening at the Bulldogs.

Just saying, I love how our recruitment have lately never gone for the cream of the NRL and have targeted players that have been ignored at club level. Boyd and others we have recruited were undervalued and luckily came over to us to get an opportunity.
How lucky are we to have Boyd to step up and take Lukes place for such a low price?

I wish TMM could be like a Lance Hohaia and be able to provide a meaningful impact when put into wherever he is as part of the utility role. I can totally understand why he is not required going forward. I would prefer to see Sam Healey in the utility role.

Wish we could just rewind back a few weeks and not have the 3 key players injured as we currently do.

Isn't it crazy that we made headlines a month ago for having an injury free roster? It lasted about 10 minutes of game time before the usual Warrior thunderbolt arrived.

There will never be another Huntly Hurricane! But, yes Healy needs more game time.

Another vote Boyd/CHT for me. CHT's kicking has been fantastic, I love how much he is running the ball too, and he is a reliable defender. This is Boyd's moment to resurrect his career, I hope he takes it. I'm pleased Taine gets another shot at fullback, and that RTS can stay at wing.

Regardless of who i would pick in the halves - I wanted to post that TMM may have the inside running to be named at 7. He played there last year and has been our 14 the past month. The fact he was picked at 14 ahead of other options means his stock is reasonably high and he is someone Webster is looking to get into the team. Maybe.

The reason CNK makes mega metres is he makes multiple runs.
His metres per run are probably just normal. He has also been putting himself in good position for second phase play to help with the figures.
Taine can replicate this but with a bit more guile and stepping and he can also back up and and come in as first receiver at times and he has a kicking game.
A lot to like.

CNK does take many runs, often two per set. He also directly targets the ruck which is a tactic I don't believe TT can't reproduce, however if TT were to be supporting Healy through the middle..
