I think he’ll get better and better, this will be his fourth preseason and I’ve heard the likes of Brian fletcher say it’s usually around that time players start getting used to the rigours. Think it was against the raiders he scored a lovely try running a great line off Tohu. Would definitely be holding onto Ale.
And an ACL injury last year from memory.
I’d love to see him get the chance running a bit wider as well.
Nuikore feels like he could shift to the middle after next season. I’d like our back rowers to offer a bit more both in speed and creativity. We are probably a bit one dimensional here with heavy reliance on the halves to put them into a gap.

What is a top 8 team 🤔 every chance the dogs are next year recruiting well and didn't go as well as expected this year could be a top 4 side next year hell look at us this year we weren't a top 8 team until we were.
Understand your point and you may be correct

Recruitment is part of the equation
Culture, style, discipline and a buy in from players and staff also required for consistent change

I have them outside of the 8

So Curran on 480K, Siro on 400s? Jazz will be around or above Curran, and we retired Williame, and let Vailea go

That's around/over $1.5M?? If we let Jazz go?

Even just $1M surely not all spent on topping ups for RTS, CHT and upgradings??

My guesstimates are that as it stands - with Sirro and Vailea gone, and Williame retiring (would have been on minimum so when we replace him with a minimum contract, we don't win/lose anything) we are pretty close to the cap for 2024 with those losses being covered by the incoming Roger and Chanel signings.

Any upgrades needed will be for 2025, as everyone has already agreed to their 2024 salaries. This is the list of players off contract the end of 2024:

Rocco Berry,
Jackson Ford,
Tohu Harris (reduced contract)
Freddy Lussick,
Luke Metcalf,
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak,

Josh Curran,
Shaun Johnson
Jazz Tevaga,
Taine Tuaupiki

The top ones I think we'll keep, with really only Metcalf, Ford, and Berry the ones that should be getting upgraded significantly (100-200k imo).

So! To sum up, I think we're losing Curran early in order for us to try and put his 500k to better use and get a prop in for next year. For 2025, losing SJ, half of Tohu's money and Jazz's, should put us in a net gain of around $700k after upgrading others.

All guess work of course 🤷

What about Mohawk's Lodge brain explosion, what was that, about $600k?

You reckon Tohu's gone? I'm hoping he has at least a season as a prop/bench player to oversee the changing of the guard. For example Ale (or who ever) starting at 13, Tohu coming on for 30 minutes around half an hour in, before giving it back to Ale to close out.

I reckon that's where the majority of Rodgers money is coming from, were essentially able to add a big contract like his without having to juggle anything from this year, as we were paying for Lodge for 2023.

Could there be any scope to play Tohu prop, bulk up CHT a few kilos to play lock and have 4 playmakers on the field with the halves?

Pretty crazy that we're cap locked, our squad was penciled in for a bottom 4 spot and massively over performed. Imagine if we hadn't and were mostly losing players heading into next year as we are now. In hindsight it seems alright considering the majority of our roster improved and we got a great result, but that's pretty concerning cap management. I just don't really get it considering you see teams like the dogs making huge signings and bringing in even more, yet we are basically at a wash (RTS in for Lodge money).

Pretty disappointing overall. Prelim is definitely our ceiling for now, while RTS will absolutely improve our centers, it's not enough to change the outcome. If AFB goes down forget about winning a finals game at all. A lot of squads will be improving next year.

Ah well we're years ahead of schedule, will be great once our pathways are producing and we can build around some cheap youngsters.

Sounds like a few clubs in the mix.

Obviously Mestrov is announcing his signing with the Warriors.

That's how it's done, right?

Been following a discussion on the tigers forum regarding Haumole Olakau’atu and Tony mestrov (manly ceo) announcing his re signing as imminent. Pretty sure this post is tongue in cheek but imagine him in our pack. I’m daring to dream since they’ve just just signed lodge properly and have big money Invested in Schuster who will need to go back to second row and have had reported salary cap issues. Manly are one team in the mix for Curran as an article states on their forum along with dragons and bulldogs.
