Felt like one of these was coming. I don’t even think we played that badly. We looked like fatigue finally hit us. I know that sounds weird after a bye.

Combine that with injuries and we get this result.

In saying that a couple of real obvious negatives for me, Graham-Taufa. Easy to see why he’s so far down the pecking order here. Maybe another that’s too good for cup but not quite first grade level. Seemed outclassed in all areas, not much else to say on him.

CHT and his attack. I think with Metcalf hurt he had a chance to step up and control the attack. Just doesn’t have it in him. Looking forward to Boyd getting a run in FG.

Still think there were positives, Clark, Vaimauga, RTS, stood out to me.

I’m more guttered about our injuries than our loss. Depth really going to be tested going forward.

Like to see Healey come into the team in some form too.

Don’t read too much into this game.

We played with 15 players for more than half of the game, had players playing out of position and had a halfback who could barely move for the whole second half.

There is NO team in the NRL who would win in that situation and if they did it would be extremely rare.
With our full 17 players fully fit the entire game we would have beaten the Panthers in my opinion.

Long term, I am extremely worried about Metcalf’s leg. Hopefully he had a twinge and was playing it safe. His leg was strapped the entire game so he must have gone into the game with a niggle. Laban didn’t look 100% towards the end of the game either.

I was not impressed with MGT and we made the right decision letting him go next year based on that performance.

CNK was an absolute beast again. He is playing out of his skin every week. Ford & RTS were also impressive.

Can’t get behind the inevitable yarn of “poor us, DWZ and Marata ruled out and Metcalf got hurt”

Poor defence across the whole team tonight even before that, I’m pretty confident that if the Dogs or Raiders were in the same spot they’d have come out with a W

Also, let MGT enjoy the last of his time with the club with the Cup boys ✌️
Why does it have to be poor us? Key injuries, unlucky bounce, we lose. It happens and hardly the end of the world.

We were terrible
The game was there to win. Penrith weren't flash but we let them outplay us. Yes we had injuries but that doesn't stop players doing the basics. Catching kicks and making tackles.
Plenty of things for the coaching team to work on this week. Our performance against the Broncos next week will be interesting. If we're going to be there at the end we will need to bounce back quickly
