I wonder how all of the Doggies will feel about this?
They've all worked pretty hard to get where they are this year, and now a young guy whose had loads of drama in the media for the last 6 months will potentially take the spot of one those players, likely immediately next week or the week after.

Similar to us, I wondered if we signed Manu or Ponga before June 30, are we happy for CNK to miss out moving forward? Could be a bit of sour grapes or sow disharmony.

All's fair from the office season onwards but if you were Sexton or Tracey, or any of the boys impacted on a potential backlog reshuffle, you'd surely be a wee bit irked?

Pretty much agree, but the extension of CNK is the only difference with Sexton completely pushed out? You’d have to think that CNK would have been informed his role will alter before he signed an extension if there was a possibility of signing a fullback?

If it is the week after, they play the Eels. If it was just between the Bulldogs and the Eels it will rub it in if he debuts against the Eels.

He would have slotted in easier at the Eels. This year would have been some juggling if Brown stayed on. Next year he slots straight in with Moses.

The Bulldogs like you mention it could cause some dramas if they don't have if planned out. I've seen discussions on Sexton moving on but from my understanding is that was for next year.

The other tough one for Sexton is they weren't going too well last year. They brought in Sexton and he managed to move them around the field and implement their game plan. If they take him out will the new halfback move them around the field as well?

I know some rep teams or some clubs select by getting the best players and then figuring out how they will fit them in.

A lot is written about coaches choosing the correct team they want to take over. The same can be said about players. You may have been in form playing in your current team and their system. It doesn't mean you will fit in at your new club and their system. You'd hope they have done their due diligence instead of the Tigers are bottom team we need to move on and the Bulldogs are flying and have everything sorted.

Also for clubs if you sign someone for a specific role it doesn't work out and they need to be moved. Bennett has signed tons of players for one role and moved them (Bird at the Broncos for example didn't last long in the halves). Or closer to home our signing of RTS to play in the centres.

So noise that Ponga is not happy and could ask for a release. Also rumours we were going to make a play for him to replace Teddy eventually. He can also play 5/8.
So hypothetically would we take DCE or Ponga for next year if in fact Ponga does request a release?

When is a contract not a contract?
When it's an NRL contract.
I would love to see clubs insist their players see out the term of their contract. Even if it means standing the player down for the rest of their contract. If every club did that it would soon stop the Moses and Galvins and Goulds and their carry on
900K and a big paper bag full of cash wouldn't mean the best prospects going to the richest clubs. In Galvins case his value would drop after 18 months on the bench seeing out his contract
