Wrighty do you usually jump on the cheapies when they come out? Sometimes it can be a good move when you're specifically looking for a player in a position and someone comes up, but I usually try to wait and see how they perform in their first week, or would need to see more job security before I make the leap.

When bringing in a cheapie, of course we're all hoping they smash it and turn into a keeper, but imo you also need to keep in mind that a failed cheapie will cost you two traders - one to get in to your team and one to get them out. It makes it extremely difficult if you get one or two cheapies who don't score well because then you either need to wait for ANOTHER cheapie to come along, or trade another player whose worth more to use some of their money to upgrade the failed cheapie.

I would be holding both Salava and Vaumunga at the moment. I don't know much about Riley though, haven't looked at his stats or how he plays etc
The correct play which nearly everyone is doing is watching him his first week. There are many unknowns. For example Flannagan could become a dominant half and Togia King might not see much pill for example.

But at this stage I am quite far off the pace. My score last week was very flukey. I need to take some risks to catch up.
Trading Vaimauga or Smith for an unkown dragons rookie with considerable hype could backfire but it is a low risk move as I am not giving up anyone remotely important to my team to get him.

I personally think King togia is worth the risk. He is 19. He debuted for 3 games in 💙 Mighty NSW cup as a 17 year old I understand which is incredible. Last year as a 18 year old he averaged 40 points and this year for the first 7 games of 💙 Mighty NSW cup he has averaged 45 points as a 19 year old. And Shane Flannagan rates him.

I have landed on trading away Vaimauga after much analysis. Vaimauga was not going to win me this competition or a single head to head to match up and has been in my emergencies and not my counting 17 for the past 5 rounds.

there is no fire or excitement to see here. This is a routine trade.

I agree with your choice of trade. I don't see Vaimauga's minutes increasing anytime soon. I also think this Dragons youngster is worth a shot as Flanagan has always been a passive half and I don't think that role will change.

Wrighty those 3 you’ve identified are all making money and are bye relevant players. Don’t trade a cashie for another cashie, especially one who is untested. Cashies are for peaked cash cows or injured players, to allow for upgrades elsewhere.

It's magic round starts tomorrow guys and girls of this fantasy thread. I have been looking forward to this all week.

Viva le rugby league.

With Garrick out, I need to play 2 of ponga kautoga toia. If I trade Toia & ponga, I need to buy a centre and wfb. Alternatively, I hold 2 of these 3, buy a centre or wfb, and get Clarke. So there’s a few options:

sell ponga, don’t buy Clarke or the Lucas:
Watson to king togia
Toia to fermor
Ponga to Drinkwater

Or,
I hold ponga, play kautoga, and the following:
Watson to Clark
Toia to Lucas
Sandon to king togia

Another option is I sell ponga, play kautoga & toia, and the following:
watson to Clark
Ponga to Drinkwater
Francis to king togia

I like option #2.

I like option one

It boils down to who you prefer out of Lucas (option 2) or Fermor (option 1). Both DPP centre/edge. Both high quality. Both having good seasons. Do Knights have the better bye schedule?

I personally am a Fermor man I believe from other posts Rizzah prefers Lucas as do most of the heavyweights I read.

The other benefit of option 1 is that you can jettison Ponga into the stratosphere. I heard a rumour he is playing with sore ribs which has curtailed his play. Hopefully his ribs come right or you could be waiting a while for them to heal. If the rumour is true might explain why he has been shy of contact.

I'm looking at bye schedule and origin disruption. Fermor will likely be in Origin and also Titans are out RD12 and RD18.
The Big Byes will be critical for jumping rank if that is the aim, which I think it is for @Warriorsfan92
I would have a plan to bring in Drinkwater in RD13.

I have made three minor trades this week to future proof my team for the minor bye rounds. None of those traded were in my 17 last week so depth trades really but I hope they help me in the long run. I now have only 17 trades left so will need to settle on my team now barring injuries and just make do with what I have now to the finish line.
I think I am good to go for the bye rounds I want to compete in. Ideally my game plan is to win all three of my minor bye round match ups as I have targeted to do well in those.
One of my minor trades was Jenkins to Iongi. I had researched the Wazoo out of the trade. Tamale was the best outside back in the stats in last year's 💙 Mighty NSW cup but Iongi was second best so should be a safe enough trade and importantly he plays the minor bye rounds which is important to me.

I am getting better at trading now without asking for advice as I say my questions in my mind and then remember what you all on this forum have advised me on previous occassions so everyone's advice has been invaluable while I have been learning.

My record is 3-5 I am up against someone who is 6-2 so victory is unlikely but will give it a shake.
I have captained May off the bat off Casual Athlete saying May is a must captain.

My opponent has Tapine and Watson hiding on his bench so this could be a massacre - his weak link is Kautoga, is on his interchange, who I don't rate, so will see how I get on.
Good luck every one for magic round.

Rumour is Nathan's girlfriend has just dumped him after finding out he's been dumped from the Reservoir Dogs in favour of Jamal Fogarty. Coach on the one hand predicting I'll win this weekend by 50 points but on the other the graph shows a 4 point win so...

Used 2 out of the 3 trades this week. Wll try and restrict to 1 for a while unless it's really necessary.

Actually, looking at our fixtures for this round, it looks like every Matchup graph is a bit screwy compared to the total points expected...Some gremlins in the system...
