- Didn't want our outs to be an excuse
- just want to turn our season around
- knew it was a big game going into the bye
- wanted to lead with our defense
DWZ at fullback was great. A bit of a throw back to pre Billy Slater where everyone wanted passing out the back as well.
Was like a 90's - early 2000's style fullback. Fast and running direct from the back to start our sets. Kind of like how CNK suits us better than Walsh with him being so dependable. DWZ probably suited us today with everyone out without a stable line up. Took his high balls and ran hard. The try was well deserved.
I was looking forward to seeing Tuaupiki back up. Enjoy the birth of your child young fella. It is a special time.
Never been prouder of the club after that effort and 50 beers. How good was Graham-Taufa, reminds me of a young Blackmore, we've got another player there. Credit to Lussick too for playing the full 80. Ale was fending them off like swatting blowflies, our D was swarming like flies on shit. We're back baby, if I die in my sleep it was all worth it whanau.
We can only have players here that are fully invested in our kaupapa.
Because the last 2 weeks have been the best we’ve looked all season, and it’s been the bench players who have come in, with the role players still healthy really stepping up.
Some of the players currently out might not walk straight back into their jerseys.
Maybe a certain someone’s release request can be granted for the sake of team morale.
Regardless - what a win and past 2 weeks. Enjoy the bye round everyone!
Wow, these last two weeks. If at any point in Warriors future we need to look back on what it takes to be gritty, determined and never say die it's these last 2 weeks.
My hands are still shaking lol. Fuck i love this team!
I think some of our regular starting players will be looking over their shoulders now. That was epic! The D they produced was just all attitude and being there for their mates. Was a better win than last week.
WOW!!!!! What an amazing result. Well done boys
If this was a Disney movie with a second string team beating 2 top 4 sides in a row no one would believe it. But we did it.
After so many years of keeping the faith it is so good to be a Warriors fan
Fantastic result
Posted this in the game day thread and said I would re post in this thread if we win...
Ok guys time for more beer talk....
I say lean into our ridiculous nightmare.
This post is for rugby league purists, a meta view of how to enjoy a game like today in difficult circumstance that we should on paper lose.
If you are a 'Warriors lose' -'Warriors bad' - guy/gal....skip and move onto the next post.
If you are a train spotting freak trying to make lemons from lem.....you get the point....
On the face of it we are literally fielding a team as scary as the one the Dolphins thrashed 34 to 10, round 27 last year. The game where Webster pulled all of his best players to cotton wool them and ran out his expendables.
Take a look at the side that day:
1. Taine Tuaupiki
2. Ed Kosi
3. Rocco Berry
4. Adam Pompey
5. Marcello Montoya
6. Te Maire Martin
7. Ronald Volkman
8. Bunty Afoa
9. Freddy Lussick
10. Barnett
11. Josh Curran
12. Marata Niukore
13. Dylan Walker
14. Bayley Sirronen
15. Tom Ale
16. Kalani Going
17. Paul Roache.
Spooky to look at the comparison of how depleted that Warriors side look compared to today right?
Like dejavu.
So today is an excellent measuring stick of Andrew Webster and the Warriors development programs progress.
The score to beat today is 34 Dolphins, 10 Warriors.
That is the litmus test the gauge the parallel to the last time we rolled out a C team.
Go the C team welcome back to the glitch in the Matrix against the exact same club that thumped you last year which was a Warriors epic season. Lets see what the same type of team can do from a form slump with backs to the wall.
