I would have thought Taine would be picked at 6 as he's been playing some halves in NSW cup
Always wears #1 but does the playmaking & kicking. Not sure if he's been dropping back to do kick returns as well? I'd be happy for CNK to eat the metres from the back & Taine to get 50+ touches up in the line.
How Webster thinks he can defend in the front line will probably determine their exact roles

I know it was tough seeing him request a release. When it comes to family issues it is tough for a club not to grant a release. I'm glad we've managed to get a compromise and got another year out of him.

Some people are looking into things to question his attitude like he wouldn't be putting in on the field. I can't fault his performances, he has been making his metres every week, he does some tough runs. We are going to miss him big time.

He joined us during the pandemic and also came back to NZ when the club returned home where a lot of others didn't.
You can never question his commitment to the club.

Probably because we didn't have RTS last year.
i dont think anyone would have preferred swapping RTS for CNK at FB based on last years form.

Lets face it fans are only contemplating this move because RTS has been a failure at centre so far, not because of his own play, but moreso based on how we play.

I cant see Webby giving up on this, and rightly so. Anyone made to play outside TMM would struggle. Also does anyone remember RTS linking into the backline? Nowhere near as good as CNK. Might as well just put a target on his back as opposition knows he wont pass to berry/dwz if he gets the ball of SJ. RTS will try. And his efforts are all individual based by being the prop we dont need, or trying to do the hero plays running away from everyone so he can sidestep a few. No diss on RTS i love him, but still yet to see how he fits into the TEAM based on how we play.

TLDR; Not sure why CNK has to be made the scapegoat for the coaches, gameplan and Rogers failings.

I'm sure there was another thread re: how are you feeling at the moment, or something along those lines. I can't find it so here goes...

    Early Games:
My gut feel is not bagging points in those first 2 games has been a huge factor in this slump and our loss of confidence. The team had massive expectations heading into this year and rightly so after last year and the offseasons acquisitions. So to then lose 2 in a row with one of those at home in front of a sold out crowd who you didnt lose to last year, and the other by a miracle try, wouldve been hugely deflating. It then forced them to need points in the next few games to stay in contact with those top teams and the top 4 which I am sure the team wouldve been shooting for. They got some points but it didnt look as slick as last year and I feel the pressure was already beginning to build. From there it turned into panic footie and although we won games (and drew 1) by the skin of our teeth we were often not convincing. The pressure valve continued to build and when the Titans rolled us it just tightened further.

    Injuries
On top of that we have had a massive injury toll. I concede that aside from Rogers and SJs injury today they havent necessarily been to key personnel and other teams have issues which many have overcome, but the issue has just been a share numbers game and we dont quite have the depth to cover this number of injuries. Yes our depth is solid, but if you keep digging too deep into reserves its going to become pretty dire unless you have an established pathways system like the Panthers.

    Attitude:
Tbh with you, although this season is essentially as good as gone I have largely been pretty happy with the teams attitude. Yes its not that Melbourne Storm level grit, but comparative to seasons and teams past at least I can see this team and coach really give a shit. They dig in when the going is tough. They are fighting. I saw some video footage of the sheds from last week and they were all dejected but they were all listening attentatively. There was no shit 'I dgaf' body language. They truly are in this together. And this is what gives me hope moving forward. There is still light at the end of this tunnel for me...maybe not this year, but these guys will learn.

Obviously I'm gutted and now I am also a bit apathetic about the games and season sadly. This ship (club) is going to take awhile to turn around in its entirety but the powers that be are putting the pieces of the puzzle together (the pathways and success with Harold Matthews being a case in point). I back Webbie as our coach and still believe he is the right man for this club. Remember he will learn from this and grow as well.

I think @sup42 ’s positive outlook has me thinking.

While we may think this is just us regressing to the mean (like we had one fluke season and it’s back to being shit again), the injury toll has been hugely disruptive and has affected our performance this season.

Starting the season without Charnze. Walker and Jazz missing chunks of the season. Nikoure only playing 1 game.

Bunty missed games. Egan missed games.

Capewell is out. CHT is out. Metcalf is out. Nikoure as mentioned above.

SJ playing injured, probably gonna miss games now too. Tohu is playing knackered.

We haven’t been full strength all season. We haven’t been healthy and the results are showing.

Not trying to make excuses, but I’m leaning to this being an off year (so far) due to injuries and depth being tested.

Coaching can be attributed too. I think Webby has been too shy to unleash some of our younger, inexperienced and untested players that show promise. His bench use has been questionable at times as well.

I don’t think last year was a fluke, maybe it was a glimpse. This year is a reminder to keep our expectations in check.

Webby will be forced to use some of the aforementioned young guns in the coming weeks due to said injury toll. That will give us reassurance that the future is still bright for this Warriors organisation.

Were still heading in the right direction. This is just growing pains.

Glass half full anyway. Better then being grumpy I guess.
