Verhoeven is absolutely the guy we want but one would be dreaming if they didnt think Webster could do wonders with a 26 year old Jordan Riki - in fact he is the ideal pick up. The guy is a premiership winner, has buckets of experience. He has years of highlights. He is super aggressive and is the exact type of player (like a Mitch Barnet) who would go up levels under Webster and be a leader in the pack. Riki completely fits the bill at the perfect age and being a Kiwi.

To our benefit he is currently under performing in this broncos pack. Which is common for most players at some small window of their career. Particularly in their mid 20s

Lose Niukore, Barnett, and possibly Capewell from the pack and then TMM and possibly CHT from the backs... You will need experience. If Riki is on the table in any deal I think they would grab him. Under Webster the guy dominates.

Broncos development player Antonio Verhoeven has been earmarked by the Warriors as part of a compensation package, while the New Zealand club may also consider Billy Walters, Jesse Arthars, Deine Mariner, Tom Duffy or Jordan Riki.
Hopefully we get Verhoeven, or Deine Mariner as a last resort.

If we get Riki, we are stupid.

Truly a lot to be excited about being a Warriors supporter these days. The club looks to be exceptional health with the pathways delivering genuine talent.

What must be considered a considerable omen for most NRL clubs is that the Warriors now are taking average players, or good players in slumps and turning them into standout elite performers. This is what has kept the Panthers and the Storm humming along for years... superstars mixing with ++Value over performers

Case in point - Mitch Barnett, Jackson Ford and Tanah Boyd. It takes them roughly 18 - 24 months to hit that sweet spot and then its only up from there. I put that down to Webster's immense understanding that boring wins titles. Boring means repetitive completion on absolutely EVERYTHING individually and as a team. For a half that may mean, you pass 1000 times a week, same arc, same body position until it is regimented into your being. Now repeat across all the other aspects of your game. Hence 18-24 months to build the PEAK player.

The next group is likely to see Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Sam Healey and Morgan Gannon stocks rise as their time drilling each week and then experiencing first grade increases. And that is also not touching on the next tier of young prodigal talent coming through of which is no shortage. The warriors will lose a lot of talent but the ones they keep will be outstanding contributors to this football team.

Something massive has happened the last two weeks. A player by the name of Tanah Boyd has finally gained confidence from discipline regiment and is taking games by the scruff of the neck. Roosters and the knights have suffered because of it and not being able to live with the Warriors. You literally see the souls leaving their bodies and they get systematically crush by the Warriors obsession with boring repetitive ruthlessness.

For those in the know Tanah Boyd has been one of most disappointing NRL talents to emerge out of Queensland in recent years. To say Tanah was highly rated as a junior is an understatement. Wally Lewis said Tanah had the best kicking game he has ever seen a junior player have. He actually rated his kicking game the best in the NRL. Last night Tanah's kicking game wasn't A or even A+... is was S-TIER.

The Warriors have never had a player in the history of the club who can kick like this. Very few clubs have a player who can win a game on the basis of his kicking game. The Warriors have that currently. Yes he lacks polish when kicking goals but that will come. If you think what is potentially on the way with Wil Warbrick, Mellars and hypothetically Bishop Neale and Verhoeven... A elite NRL kicker like this #1.

Last night the Warriors witnessed something they clearly hadn't planned for because they had no choice. When CHT went down, Boyd took over complete control of the kicking and running/attacking game. He also touched the ball and directed the shape more times than I have seen a half do at the Warriors for many years. Honestly it was not at the same level but it did remind me of Jonathan Thurston demanding the ball in hands every single tackle/play and choosing who got it and when, including props and second rowers... causing all sorts of headaches for defensive lines because they couldn't get the exact read on the play.

So now the Warriors have a problem. A Tanah Boyd who can play like this week in/week out... this guy will likely win NRL titles. His team will win way more than they lose. They will play finals regulary.

You have to think with Webster's track record, Tanah will remain at this level and probably has another 20 - 30% growth in him.

A guy like CHT is 100% what you want at your NRL club. He is dedicated, he is team first and he is rock solid. Does most things good without being a leader in any category. I mean this respectfully. CHT is not elite. He will not lead you to titles but he is a competitor who inspires his fellow players to raise their level and he has plenty to contribute to any club. His will to fight is un-coachable.

Tanah Boyd playing like this week in week out will make the Warriors feared. We have never had this before. Is this his new standard now? Have the Warriors clicked he needs to be dominant and hold the ball and run the shape.

I hope the Warriors make a smart choice as does Tanah. The Warriors are 100% the club who can make him great but likely pay him less.

I want him to want to stay here and become 'The guy'.

Dallin gets a lot of hate on here but overall we are lucky to have the guy.
Sure he makes the occasional misread but also scores amazing tries that not many others would score, but is his off field Mana that really compliments this team. Any excuse to get out the guitar and have a singalong, lead the after match victory song and just the general encouragement he gives the young guys. Yes I'm a fan boi.

    6. LM
    7. boyd

    14. CHT

Feels obvious, people definitely put too much stock in numbers on backs. Some of Tannahs best attacks came left side last night, most of Metcalfs best attacks came right side last season. That’s how it fits. Plus stylistically, Metcalf plays like a 6 not a 7. But let’s see tannah put it together for 10+ games first

Everyone just instantly memory holed Boyds season last year
This. Alot of the forum wanted him moved on last year. 2 games into the 26" season. And he is suddenly the Messiah lol.
I am the first person to acknowledge and praise his performances thus far.

He has been a revelation for us. Let's not jump the gun tho. He is one bad performance away from being cast into the fires of warrior hell by our psychotic forum members 🤣🤣
Let's give him at least half a dozen games to see if he has turned a corner before anointing him the divine one.

Defence isn’t as important as balance…smashing the defending minor premiers with 34 points on attack and only 6 in defence means if we keep this balance going… we appear to be doing something right.
We have no idea how Boyd/Metcalf would balance.
Last year minor premiers have won only one of their last 5 games, & that win was in golden point.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves after back to back Friday night wins in Auckland on the back of dominant forward performances & less penalties/6-agains conceded

In my opinion, the player who improved the most from the Roosters game was Ali and his defense. After the Raiders scored, I was thinking they’d target him all night. But he not only lifted his defense, he started hitting players harder and was often first man to the tackle.

The motor in Ford is immense.

Leka just keeps on doing what Leka does.

Fish has the sort of mana of our three greatest captains… Campo, Pricey and Mannering. The boys just look like they never want too let him down…. or are just too scared too.

TT certainly didn’t look out of place playing FB in FG.

But Boyd was my MOTM. Running the show, the 20/40, the try. And not having a recognised halves partner for most of the game.

Scoring at nearly a point a minute in the second half against last years Minor Premiers is really great. There aren’t too many teams who would be looking forward to an away game at Penrose this year.

And, an honourable mention to the crowd…. the noise you made sounded fantastic on tv. Well done!!!

We were really good. But Raiders were also very poor. Trying not to get too excited so would like another week to see how we go.

Tapine's post match mentioned "we struggled with the new rules" - does anyone know what he meant by this?

    I disagree entirely.

Raiders had nearly 80% completion in the rain (we were better with 86%).
They had significantly faster play the ball, more run meters made per set, more line breaks, far more offloads (13 to 2!), and a higher tackle effenciency.

In that first half they looked like they'd run riot, with a lot of their backs looking really dangerous.

And then we fucking smashed them. They were really good tonight. We were just far, far better.

Maybe the crowd just knew, this is our house, here is your viking clap, now fuck off.
I see a lot of people saying that this isn't sportsmanlike. It's stuff like this that makes sports so interesting and hopefully it is a start of a genuine rivalry between us and Canberra. Raiders (both fans and players) were absolute d***heads last time they won at MSS. They have absolutely no right to complain about it being reversed now.
