Long off season, round 1 home game, sold out Mt Smart, anticipation sky high. I was so worried that we were gonna drop this one but goddamn that was superb.

MOM for chooks was Ali. We play anyone on his edge and this is 40-6. Replacing him is way more important than getting Metcalf or Barney back. Heck I'd even give Gannon a Crack there.

Jacko Ford=220m. Even the haters gotta admit he has become instrumental to our side.

Chooks can whine all they want about the penalty count but they were lucky they still had 12 let alone 13 remaining on the park. Their cynical tactics couldn't hide the fact that we clearly won the middle. Once that happened they just self exploded really. Their impatience and lack of finesse is why I don't see them challenging Penrith or Melbourne.

Great result! Hitting round 1 and we looked prepared. Compare that to Vegas last season where we looked shell shocked. Good to see.

Happy for Boyd and I hope this kicks his confidence levels up a couple of notches. He organized the team well and that allows CHT, who has carried on from last season, to do his thing.

All round team effort - Ali didn't have the best game but I'd stick with him.

Best things for me is that it appears that we are seeing a lot of what many had highlighted from last sesdon. Using the ball with controlled offloads, asking questions in attack, Egan getting a spell, good shape in the opposition 20.

Only one game but I'm loving what I'm seeing.

Side note: No Marata and our best performance for a long time

Ford had 17 runs in the first half. He was still plugging holes in the defence in the 2nd.

I know he's not liked by a lot. But man he was great tonight.

I was a bit worried about his shoulder. He played through. Hopefully it's not an issue when it cools down.

Fish played like the guy we thought we got last year and we were dissapointed.

I think man of the match has to go to Tannah Boyd, he was play far better than all of our expected ceiling he has.

Having said that, so much more fun stacking by 20.

Great start.

Fish man of the match for me. Really had a tough, hard nosed approach and took Whyte on up front early on. Imo set the tone for the match. Loved seeing him dominate the young buck, gave him no room to move and made great meters. Later on had arguably the save of the game with Collins in under the posts, its a different game with 7 to go ans only down by 6.

Chanel was great, Boyd was great.

Interestingly, numbers were waaaay down for both Clark and CNK, I wonder if that was an intentional plan by Webby to try and keep them fresh.

Overall - fucking stoked. What a performance. A +

Edit: 5 offloads for JFH...fucking hell son. To put that in to context thats the same amount of times he offloaded ALL year last year...

Big Apologies to Egan and Boyd, killed it. Especially Boyd, had huge pressure on him and he delivered.

My favourite thing in this game was JFH and Clark coming back on and stifling the roosters comeback.
