I may have missed it in some dark hidden corner of the forum (I tend not to go in those, as it is pretty scary there...I went to the Political forum once...), but there doesn't seem to be much fanfare for Bunty.

10 years of reliable, dedicated clubmanship. Our longest serving player.

All the best Bunty, thanks for wearing our colours with pride.
Yeah has gone under the radar somewhat but that sort of service definitely deserves recognition .

The impression u got from his charges (and maybe it was just the hair) was that he was going to put more of a dent into the opposition line than he ever actually did........and although u want forwards to develop a step or late footwork, ive got a soft spot for lunatics who just run it straight......and whatever the impact he never shirked.

i actually thought his best feature was the wrestle. Through periods where we were struggling to control the speed of oppositions PTBs, thought he couldve come in handy at times.

I could see him prospering in the UK tbh and becoming a fan favourite.

Plus "Bunty"....best name in the business.......thanks for the service fella.

Yet he's spent time on both sides of the field and most of his highlights reel plays are down the right side of the field. Go figure.
He scored 13 tries. 5 were when he was on the left (2 from kicks), 7 on the right (3 from kicks) and I think it's fair to attribute his Knights match winner as down the middle of the field.
As a starter, 9 games on the left (7W-2L) for 4 tries (excludes the Knights one as he had switched sides at that point) & 5 starts on the right (2W-3L) for 2 tries (includes 1 at Centre).
In his 8 bench games he was used predominantly on the right edge to spell Niukore but also came on & spent 75 minutes at right Centre in Round 27.
Overall, 3 ball running tries on the left vs 4 on the right.
No Try Assist stats were given to him this season but he was responsible for creating the opportunity for CHT to score against the Dragons. This occured on the left.

He can freakishly catch bombs on either side, run a hard line too but when you stick him on the right edge the ball carrying arm is exposed to the inside defender (Kodi Nikorima of all players exploited this) and if he gets on the outside of this defender his instinct is usually to cut back in rather than utilize the space created.

In our first game vs the Broncos he scored a try that won't be replayed over & over but it was so simple & effective. He got dropped under, then got to the outside of Riki and palmed him off to score. In our second match against the Tigers he used that same right hand fend to beat 2 defenders with about 1.5m of space to work in.

He can score regardless of where he lines up but his fend is a weapon that is largely redundant on the right edge

He’s a perfect back up Pompey. I’ve always said this but he’s just far too slow to be a first choice back for us imo. He’d be the easiest centre to defend against. If we don’t sign anyone new( which we should) and Berry and Leiataua are fit miraculously, they’ll be starting

Pompey this season has been the most threatening outside back we have.

People refuse to acknowlege his Try's, he reverse passes, his offloads, his stepping.

He has had a break out year and performed better than anything the other options have period.

    He starts in my team.

He was almost scoring a Try a game coming into the finals. Pretty much everything you want from a center when you add all that on top of his defence.

Because there is no way you could find and entice a guy to move country for the rest of the season.

Harper was what he was, a depth signing for the rest of the year.

In the end, Capewell was favoured (followed by Leka).
Agreed! I never quite got the Harper backlash. A 50+ FG player in NZ on a one year contract to help mentor backline players in our fairly young reserve grade side (which dominated) seems a good choice. Realistically, he was, what like 6-7th on our centre depth chart - if he just showed good habits and attitude for the young boys, I’d take that as a W.

Stats wise, CHT had the 3rd best season from a half in Warriors colours in like the last 15 years or so.

Unless he's injured, he'll be starting next year there and rightly so.

Like every player, he has his limitations. But if he's able to offer solid defence, a reasonable kicking game and ends up with 20+ tries/try assists a year, every coach is going to keep a player who can provide that.

No surprises. Signing Harper, and then the reluctance to play him, will go down as one of our weirdest signings of all time

Especially weird considering he was playing as well, or better, than one could expect from him - while we had such a large number of outside backs out injured.

I agree with it, but it is sad to see Bunty leave the club, it’s a shame he never went up a level - his earlier seasons were probably even better than his last.

Kosi I hoped would have had a bit more of a redemption arc, but I hope he finds a home under Wayne’s arm.

Tom Ale is a strange one, very interested to hear why he was overlooked for first grade entirely this year. But don’t really disagree too much letting him go, if any I would have kept him.

MGT looks class in NSW Cup, but underwhelmed me a little in first grade. Hope he kicks on though.
