Some of you are acting like your last GF broke up with you on compassionate grounds.

We only got AFB to start with because of it, JFH, CNK too.

If we started basing recruitment on "We don't want them to leave early" then we wouldn't have Egan, Barnett etc.

Most of the guys we released early were released because we were happy with letting them go because they weren't in our plans.
Making an influential player like Dylan stay against his wishes can have terrible consequences for the rest of the squad.
Best to part on reasonable terms and call it quits

It's difficult for me to track how things develop on this forum since I am in the US time zone. But why are we talking about TMM all of a sudden? Don't mess with the halves! They've been improving each week and should be given full faith and confidence until we start losing on a continual basis.

As for the Walker issue, I think the answer is clear. Halasima subs for 13 (Erin). Bring in Laban. Having 3 forwards on the bench is important for our grinding game style. I might even think about starting Laban and moving Marata to the bench. Marata is a damaging ball runner who might be better utilized in limited spurts when bodies on the edge are getting tired.

I think we are "good" in a lot of positions (hooker, fullback, top 2 wings). But "good" isn't enough to play with the big boys.
Codesports a couple of days ago did an approximate value of each teams squad down to value of each player in top 17 and how it compared to other teams. Warriors was in the bottom 3, after Dylans loss we might prob be last. It was an interesting article and compared how each squad was year to year (warriors players were under the cap by a fair margin in regards to talent and dropped in value by over a mill in the past season). Storm for example had assembled a squad that would be valued 4m over the cap if paid their actual value.

Ill drop the article in tomorrow if anyone is interested. Our top value players were JFH(1m), Barney (800k), RTS (600k). Marata etc were valued around 420k.

It very much says we have assembled a bunch of good/average players but lacks the star power. And probably overpaid for a lot if we are anywhere close (pre Walker release) the cap.

I think we need to be realistic despite our last couple of wins. We would be seriously over performing if we make the top 8 this year.

    1) Why Cobbo is such a a great player - don't take it for granted we see the same things you have seen
Speed, size, strength, balance- he’s an amazing athlete but he’s also a natural footballer- he’s got anticipation, skill- he’s got it all.
Can make hard things look easy.

    2) Why he would be a fit for a team like the warriors
Well football wise I think he’s perfect- we’ve got cash to splash and he’s an x factor outside back- keep in mind he’s played for qld and Australia- and he’s only 22! Rts and dwz would be ideal mentors and Webster would be a great coach for him imo.
Culture wise it would be hard for him I’d imagine.
    3) What position you see him coming across for
Well if he was coming this week wing because we’re getting desperate there.
If they were to move cnk on at the end of the season he’s a better long term fullback option than rts or taine.

    4) What is his ceiling.

    Skys the limit.
He’s one of them guys the first time u see them they just look different- in warrior terms think sj, sonny fai or dare i say it Leka.
To make it relatable to u… starford toa?
Hard to compare anyone to turbo though- hes like the freak of freaks- him and Inglis.
Maybe Latrell would be a better comparison.

Well that sux. (been out of the loop all day only just caught up with this)

Cant help the timing and you dont blame the bro if theres family issues at play. But u sort of wish this happened at the end of last season so we couldve had a clear shot at a quality signing over the off season. Also i wonder if the club wouldve let Jazz go if they knew this was in the pipeline?.Plus it just sux cause i liked the energy he bought and the way he could change the tempo with some fast leg speed round the ruck. I dont think we have anyone on the books who can play that ball distributor 13 role that him and Tohu could.

God damn! The bald bro's, AFB, SJ, Tohu......that's 960 games of first grade experience we've lost in a matter of months! Chuck in RTS and DWZ and that's almost 1400 NRL games!!! Fark we're up against it....i think we're punching well above our weight where we're standing atm....and with all this disruption can only back the boys and wish them the best.

If we can snake a win against the pussycats this weekend that would be awesome.

Interesting chat. Sounds like they're happy to promote from within

Rejects any notion that the compassionate releases are an issue. That it's just a reflection of our geographical situation.
Where we release Walker, Montoya, AFB, Aitken etc we also gain JFH, Clark, CNK.
Apparently there have been 6 or so (kiwi?) players asking to come to the Warriors in the last 12 months, but they haven't worked out due to the salary cap.
Also expects a couple of calls after this news of players who could be available, even from ones that he doesn't currently know are available.

You do realise it’s a promotion right?

Erin started, then the better player in Walker comes off the bench and replaces him.

And on top of that Erin doesn’t play 80, so we lose absolutely nothing. We just move his output to the 20min mark.

It’s exactly the same gameplan with different players.
Main reason I like Clark starting is he looks to set the tone on Defence.
He stiffens the middle next to Fish and Barney at the start of the game.

Meant us releasing players without a plan/suitable replacement- we are 3 games into the season and we have released 3 players- could stretch that to 4 if you count Montoya (had enough time to make plans there).
That is some odd behaviour for a club.
Each time though they are being replaced by a talented youngster (doesn’t sound like Pasikala has worked out as the Montoya replacement though). Halasima apparently trained all off season at lock so could play 60 minutes there in place of Walker and you could bring Laban onto the bench to cover the second row.
Despite all of the comings and goings we are still remaining strong in NSW Cup so we must be doing something right. A couple of marquee signings would be good though
