Canberra Raiders set to release Zac Santo to join New Zealand Warriors
1495691003506.jpg

Canberra Raiders fullback Zac Santo will join the New Zealand Warriors as the clubs work to finalise the details of an immediate release from the Green Machine.

The Warriors are keen to add Santo to their back line to bolster their depth for the remainder of the NRL season.

It's believed the Raiders are set to pave the way for Santo to move across the Tasman in the coming days as part of the mid-year player transfer system.

The clips of him showed a bit of promise. I liked the ball steal and the chase into the in goal.

When he arrives there should be an interview on the Warriors site which are usually good to hear from the new recruits.

Just had a look on the raiders forum and they don't seem too bothered.
No one had anything bad to say about him- in fact they think he's quality depth but the general consensus was that if wighton gets injured they would've just moved one of the wingers to fullback so we was prob 4th choice fullback at best and too small to play wing.
He's prob 2nd choice fullback here and sounds like the raiders were gonna release him at the end of the year anyway.
Good move for him.

Geez I would hope that wasn't the case would definitely prefer Fusitua to be the clubs 2ND choice fullback and even CNK as 3rd choice. Fusitua was unreal at the back last year filling in for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

A few games doesnt make a fullback. If you think back, Tui made some impressive saves in the beginning. Fusitua is our wing. CNK of Santo are our fullback cover. Only reason to put Fusitua at the back is mid-game cover.

Zac Santo is the same size as Matt Bowen at 5"9, 85 kgs.

Ben Barba was 87 kgs in 2012. Josh Ado-carr is 81 kgs.

It goes to show that if you're small you can make up for it by being fast and fearless.

You wouldn't want all four in the same back line tho.

But as far as replacing Lolohea goes, Santo can cover fullback and has loads of pace. So it's an OK trade IMO.

"The Vodafone Warriors have re-signed Ligi Sao until the end of the 2019 NRL season and secured Canberra fullback-wing Zac Santo for the rest of this season and next on a second-tier contract."

That's from the Warriors official media release of his signing?
