BMM subs for Katoa for impact playing on the edge

Sironen subs Tevaga and can cover backline reshuffle for injuries

JTB for LAM

Evans/Afoa for AFB
If only we could fit the murch into the lineup. He had such a good year in 2020. Afoa was told to look elsewhere so he wont be in the 17 unless theres injuries in the prop rotation.

The forwards are so stacked we have to try and play Egan for the majority of the game and not carry an extra hooker. It’s so limiting with our talent to use a bench spot up.

My forward/ reserve set up based on all available.

8 - AFB
9 - Egan
10 - Evans
11 - Katoa
12 - Harris
13 - Sironen

14 - Tevanga
15 - BMM
16 - LAM
17 - Murchie

Evans and AFB to open - Evans came for a starting spot. Nothings guaranteed but LAM is more the workhorse for tightening things up when everyone’s a bit more tired. LAM to cover with combo of BMM and Harris moving in as needed. Harris to the middle when Murchie comes on. Sironen starting with the 13 for me and Tevanga covering lock, hooker, injuries as needed.
If Tevanga cant cover hooker for 10 minute spells then I don’t see a role for him in the team with one of our young hookers needing to take his bench spot.

Realistically with injuries and rotation I don’t see a problem giving everyone plenty of game time.

Jazz will 100% be in the 17, comfortable with him starting at lock however think he’ll be of most value coming off the bench as he did in 2018. So my preference would be Tohu to start at lock and then shifting to an edge to rest either Katoa or Murchie. Chances of a 5 prop rotation would be close to zero, so unless BMM doesn’t play as a prop then I struggle to see JTB getting a spot in a full strength 17 - he’s not even close to Evans’ quality.

either they teach Sironen how to play dummy half or Jazz has to be the 14, Egan defending in the middle is always a chance for an HIA and 15 minutes enforced off the field, you can't roll with no cover on the bench, even if he's not that great at it, he can cover for periods in a game.

i agree with starting Evans and LAM replacing him off the bench, they need to challenge Evans to do a bit more than what hes been offering off the bench in recent years, LAM is what he is, he's not going to change or improve much. because AFB can play such big minutes in the middle, (harris can play even more if they need him to) you don't need four out and out props.

BMM is attacking bench impact, Jazz is make a million tackles and raise the energy defensively bench impact.

i dont really know how best to juggle murchie, katoa, harris and sironen through 3 spots and the bench - havn't seen enough of sironens game, if they are playing a big team like melbourne or cronulla it might be best to start Katoa Harris (at 13) Murchie, if its a more mobile attacking team like the rabbits, maybe bench murchie for sironen and put harris back on the edge.

fun to have some unknowns instead of papalii and blair being in the team for defensive purposes - where they did their jobs - but pulled the attacking ability of the forwards way down.

All teams possible 2021 starting forwards and bench. I was just being curious and comparing our 2021 forwards and bench to the other teams. We all say we have a star pack but can they match up with the very best??

We’re right in there with a competitive pack. Like always it will come down to the teams attitude to get them to play to their potential.

That’s on Brown and the leadership group plus a game plan that plays to our strengths.

is absolutely certain to be in the first squad. The others most likely are Harris and Egan.

There are viable options in all positions, which is a good thing. We might not like some of those options but it is Brown's decision so go suck a kumara.

We must also remember that none of the new signings are guaranteed a start. So we let Brown pick the team and give him praise or shit after that.
