With the bye upon us I thought I'd start a poll to see what the general feeling is (I think I already know but this should be interesting).

We currently sit in 9th spot, 4 points outside the top 8.

Run home:

Rd 16 - Bye
Rd 17 - Cowboys (H)
Rd 18 - Titans (A)
Rd 19 - Broncos (A)
Rd 20 - Knights (H)
Rd 21 - Sea Eagles (A)
Rd 22 - Sharks (H)
Rd 23 - Cowboys (A)
Rd 24 - Panthers (H)
Rd 25 - Dragons (A)
Rd 26 - Raiders (H)

Oh and I haven't given an 'undecided' option, no fence sitting!

I think we will make it, scraping in at 8th or 7th. I think we have too much talent not to, despite recent results/injuries.

unless there is a significant increase in the quality of our defense in the immediate future then I cannot see how we will make it and catch up the ground we have lost.

I believe we will only win 4 of those remaining games.

I predicted we would only win four more games including the Panthers game 2 weeks back so that only gives us 8 more points this season (bye, knights, panthers and raiders)
I haven't seen the necessary improvement to beat anybody else.
So no finals football this year

I reckon 6 definite....Rd 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26....v Broncos we always lift for this one...v Sea Eagles this is played in Perth so no home ground advantage for the Eagles....v Dragons not the same team they were last year....that could be another 9 wins in total.

How Many wins/points do you generally need to make the 8?

we are due a good run... for and against points will put us in the 8

heart says yes brain says no so no cant see us winning 3 away games with that calibure of opisiton not a chance..

They will do a Warriors. They will put on a late charge and their finals hopes will be pinned on their final game as well as other results. I'm predicting we will scrape through only to get thrashed and knocked out in week one. This will make many think the new finals system is much more fair than the MacIntyre system.

Whao there! Another 9 wins, in 10 games? Backing up our current record of 6 wins in 14 games? This had better be one hell of a bye week!

I think the rounds you initially highlighted are reasonable, but given what I've seen so far I think we'll struggle to notch 6 wins in those 10 games.

Btw I refuse to vote because there's no "Hell no!" option.

I voted yes, with the caveat that we will just sneak in and be soundly dispatched in Week One.

Who knows.

I'm not confident we will get through , don't really care so much anymore, i reset my expectations to hoping the players i like get picked and more Konrad Hurrells are discovered and we have some exciting games.

im picking no. we seem to be 'that team' this year. the team that loses games from a winning position and loses to teams theyre expected to beat. like south sydney in recent years.

As always this has been a frustrating season for us faithfuls, however I think I may view it in a slighty different light to many. Just to bring back the ol' phrase: We're almost there. I think it's a lot more valid this season than any under Cleary. Defense especially, for such large portions of games we've had amazing defense, just look to the Sharks game for example - that first 70 minutes was rock solid, especially on our goal line. I think we've been let down by mentally switching off for 20 minutes each game, notably against the Storm and Sharks in the final stanza, but also the first 20 minutes in our opening 5-6 games. I think we are actually almost there - I would not at all be surprised if we won every single game from now on, I seriously think we have it in us. However, I also wouldn't be surprised if we lost every game from now on.

Same with our offense, we look extremely sharp on occasion, but also very poor on occasion. However, I can see structure forming - the way Johnson barks orders at people (especially noticeable live) indicates that there definitely is a plan... it's just lacking execution. So while the structure is obviously not there as we'd like, I can see it starting to come through - something I never felt with Cleary.

One key change I'd like to make is Mateo back to the left edge. Mateo is our best hole runner and he makes Johnson a much better player for it - Taylor simply doesn't offer the same options on the edge. Added to that, the Mateo at lock (unfortunately) has been... well not a disaster, but definitely not the result I was hoping for. Conversely, I was very much enjoying the work Taylor was doing in the middle of the field offensively, especially his habit of running back against the run of play - giving an option for Johnson to pass inside when there's nothing on. I think we've seen more of Johnson getting a bit lost since Mateo has moved to lock - although that could just be selective memory on my part.

So as for my prediction - I've gone for us scraping into the 8. But I have absolutely no idea what I really think, I don't think I could be surprised by any result.

Aren't we just doing what happens to Grand Final teams every year? There is usually a huge slump after the GF appearance (except with the likes of Storm, Broncs, Manly). Many said it couldn't happen to us.

I see us making the 8 and agree with everything spence has said, and I also think finishing 7th or 8th might be good for us, playing every week through the finals would make us a bit more hardened if we could make the GF

Before we ever go on a decent run of form these type of comments pop up and I'm not saying they aren't deserved, but this is the Warriors and you shouldn't be at all suprised even if we manage to win all 10 games

I think the games V Broncos, Cowboys and Manly are the big ones. I we make the 8 and manage to win at least 1 of those I think we will be well enough prepared. The other matches we should win really.

The last 2 seasons 28 points was the cut off mark. To at least reach that we would need another 7 wins. Bye next week, home games against the Knights, Panthers, and Raiders i'm (tentatively) favouring us in. That's 4, hopefully pick up another 3 (4 to make it safe) from somewhere else, so yeah it's possible (thats not taking into account if it comes down to for or against though).

As the above poster said though, we keep going through those 20 minute spells in games where we clock off (especially on defence) then we can get beaten by any of those teams, so really it's too hard to call. Hope for the best i guess.

If we dont make the eight this season would have to be viewed as a huge failure wouldnt it?
