General Why has this team fallen off a cliff?

The All Blacks have the pick of the best players in the world 🤣 Imagine if the Warriors had the pick of the origin sides
Pacific maybe. But then so does Australia and look at their teams. Jekyll and hyde like the Warriors.

But we're talking coaching and admin. All Blacks Coach gets sacked there are literally 6 very very viable applicants.

Warriors have to make a very astute guess to pick the best of a worst bunch of candidates.

Why has the team fallen off a cliff?
Covid issues
- recruiting short falls - lack of depth in 1st grade squad, signing Aust players to short term contracts
- coaching - getting the wrong person 2 years ago, inadequate assistants
- no reserve grade side or SH Ball
- culture - something is not right here
- Head office people - Need a stronger CEO, not sure about Hodges,
There is more
It’s not great everywhere

The fitness chat is a good one. For the past 3 seasons we've been a at most 60 minutes side. In those 10-20 minutes spells, we would get blown of the park with quick back to back tries, or worse. Right now we are a 30 minute side... That has to be a mental and fitness thing. It started under Kearney, and got worse under Brown.

The easiest change we can make to our roster this season, is getting super fit. I think we have a new leadership group coming next season with Barnett, Walker, Niukore. I've been watching them closely lately, and they go hard for full spells. They put their hands up for the tough runs, stuff we don't see from our lot. Especially Barnett, I think he is a low key great signing. We still need a backline leader out there.

With this still being a young/newly put together side, they should be moldable into a high effort unit, if the staff brought in are the right one.

The right coaching and training set up this off season is critical.

I've got high hopes for Barnett, no nonsense hard grafting pro. Should be a good addition to the squad balance having another older head who always gives 100%, hopefully he's a good influence for our young blokes and brings some on field leadership.

Covers all the attributes of Aitken with more size and hopefully hitting holes as a true back rower where Aitken has filled in admirably.

So many reasons we have fallen off.

The main ones I see are bad recruiting, not developing young talent and a bad culture, which start at the top.

To add to this our next coach needs to be a pretty special person to overcome all this. We need to luck into the next Bennet or Bellamy

A back 5 with some decent yardage in them would be nice. Seeing the ease with which the Panthers rolled up field, then allowing their line speed on defence to be suffocating was an eye opener. Roger definitely papered over some cracks there last year

Comes with the territory.

We've been shit before.......learn to ride out these times.......we'll have our good years again.

I think we all probably have to take a deep breath and reset back in Auckland to re establish the club. But it’s a hard watch at the moment.
The owner is committed to developing youth but hasn’t had a chance because of COVID..
Two new teams will be reintroduced next season. I think we will make some god strong strides quite quickly
Hopefully new arrivals also bring a winning mentality with another one or two in the pipeline to make added difference and of new coaching set up.
…. Just a couple of things.

Yeah definitely. A serious fitness guru would be good start.

But I find it hard to believe that they are unfit. They look in good nick and be way han we expect.

Just their performance under pressure in game situations is severely lacking. And waaaay behind the leading teams.

I would put Titans, Newcastle alongside us on fitness performance levels.

More game scenarios and get the pads out and smack Shaun Johnson up a bit let him know its not that bad to run the ball.
