General Which player is headed for the Vulcans?

not convinced manu would be able to handle the workrate, can you really guarantee he'll be better for the team in the forwards? will he even make the squad with all the forwards we have? not saying he won't but seems like a risk.

will he be better then bukuya? or matagi? I think we'd be losing a lot of experience on the edge and not gaining a lot at all of he moved

i looked at bakuyas vital stats yesterday 6ft tall and 100kg, hes not that big, neither are lowrie or henry. matagi, lillyman and rapira are the same size and only slightly heavier. Mannering and Matulino are tall but not heavy. We have a light weight forward pack , mateo would be the biggest player we have. if we put manu in the forwards he would be the biggest forward in the team at the moment

in summary, we would be gaining size in the forward pack and in league size matters. the most dominant props are the big guys, the burgess', fifita, tamou, shillington, bromwich, JWH, kite.. every top 8 team has more than 1 big prop and they dominate

youre right in saying size matters but i would rather buy a new giant rather then moving manu, we dont even know how good he would be as a prop, also he can sometimes get a few drop balls when he hits the ball up so im worried about that,

It's not like he would be thrown in their without being allowed to carry more weight 118kg of Muscle anyone wanna fook with that ?

Ok so when he gets gang banged now with his kick returns he throws some dogey balls......are we overlooking that he is playing near the sideline when he has those panic attacks ?

Lastly the dropped ball thing.......well Vatuvie the Prop gets short balls and a rehearsed run onto the pass rate unlike any of the unpredictability of a Winger hitting a centers ball.


Is Manu the kind of player to respond to being Biggerf and stronger / faster than many of the Props he faces ? Would he rise to a new level if his neck is made bull like and he gets runners coming straight at him.

My post was very specific in terms of Johnsons detail in the vulcans , kicking practice , optimistically would take a fortnight and pessimistically a month.....thereafter did you read I said he would never need to be out of first grade ever again.

Anyway bro , Tomkins arival heralds a much bigger world player than Johnson and someone who would be more than prepared to spend time 'coaching' Johnson on good spine team work.

it sounds like some of you aren't really happy with him on the wing so you're trying to push him off somewhere else to prolong his career

ive made it obvious i like manu on the wing but you have to think about what he can do there (scoring tries, instilling confidence in his side) I don't think we have a 100% fully capable replacement yet but the day we do, ill be happy for manu to move positions in order to make room,

(I can see david fusitua and ngani laumape as the new 'manu ropati' combo of the left edge in 3-4 years, thoughts?)

You know the saying bro there are no guarantee's in life and even less in the NRL lol ( actually just made that poor attempt up ).

People that want to move Manu are coming from two angles , one the leaks of the edge defense ( Locke was a better defensive Winger than Manu way back in the day ).........Locke didn't score the try's there.....I recon Nathan Merit wouldn't have scored tries on that side of the Warriors backline in those days...the ball just didn't go there.

Now we see the right side scoring as many if not more Try's than Manu's Wing.

The other reason is the lack of Size in the forwards.

If it's a position in the team other than Wing for Manu for defensive reasons.......make it a forward.

Shaun Johnson has already got all the skills. What he lacks is the mind set. Hopefully ST can help him with that, as he's got the mind of a champ right from the word go....

true, his defence is a problem, but that hasnt stopped us from being a good side all these years (excluding this year and last year)

and as for the need of big forwards, have you noticed that it was pretty much just this year when we decided we need bigger forwards, obviously the game is changing but I think one of the reasons we're less dominant is because theres less support and second man plays to get behind the ruck. ME has brought in a new structure which slightly (i said slightly) takes that out of our game, maybe all we need is a little adjusting in the gameplan

Every coach we've had has kept him in the wing and stated he's a winger. I'd trust them over people on a forum every day of the week.

You don't have the record he has by being a bad player.

I reckon change is coming to the Warriors, at long last, and we could see some different coaching techniques...

For me anything that gets Manu playing to his potential every week is a good thing. Even if that means he plays a couple of games in the Vulcans after his next shocker game (that we all know is going to happen)....

Consistency every week is a lot harder than one off patches of brilliance... IMHO....

And he does score loads of tries, because he's 112 kgs, runs like a cheater and jumps like a something that jumps real good. But that's all down to natural talent, not skill.

When he does use his skills he catches balls with ease from all kinds of difficult positions and throws players over the sideline who should score tries.

But he all too often doesn't use his skills, and just fumbles around the park... And for that weakness he needs to spend some time in the Wulcans, just to be a role model to the lesser mortals out there who think they can play below their best and hold their spot in FG.

Agree but dont want him there fulltime. Definitely think he should play a good 8-12 games. Want to see Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Albert Vete playing fulltime before him. He's a beast though and should get earmarked for bigger things. Him and Bishop IMO...

Manu's inconsistency has all the hallmarks of someone who isn't a master of his craft... That's why he doesn't stand up under pressure, because he hasn't done the repetition. IMO[DOUBLEPOST=1381058037][/DOUBLEPOST]
