Leeds is a possibility. Les Catalans are also interested I believe as well as the Waratahs *barf*. No contract has been signed yet.

It a shame he is going.

I hope we definately have Wade McKinnon or somebody on the same level to replace him.

the lost to the warriors would be disastrous, defence, attack, ball skills and a bloody good bloke.

So Webb is possibly off to Leeds ??? And what do we get that Eels reject Wade McKinnon who I am NOT a fan of.

It is a shame that he is going as he has been one of the main reasons why the Warriors are making a lot of ground.

He's a victim of his own success, ironically, when the club's finances are viewed in the context of the salary cap debacle. :?

That's about the size of it. Ironically, prior management have made him too expensive to keep. :(

Fingers crossed he just dosn't switch to rah-rah. All he knows is league, so let's hope he sticks with it.

Heres the article from that LEEDS NEWSPAPER

KIWI Test full-back Brent Webb today emerged as a possible transfer target for Leeds Rhinos.

Rhinos have been told Webb will be available if they decide to bring in a replacement for Australia-bound Richard Mathers.

The Yorkshire Evening Post also understands Rhinos are monitoring Hull's Leeds-born prop Jamie Thackray.

Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington confirmed: "Brent Webb is available and he is keen to come to England, so it is inevitable we'll get linked with him - particularly as it's known Richard Mathers is going to be leaving us.

"We are fielding calls and e-mails every day of every week and we get inundated with details of players who are available. One of the jobs of Tony Smith and his coaching staff is to do a lot of home work.

"We may be looking at 10 players - it is fair to say we are now looking at our situation for next year, both in terms of our players coming out of contract and potential new recruits."

Hetherington added: "We are always monitoring players' availability, that is on-going all year round. We are coming to the time of year when players who are coming out of contract are keen to establish where they are going to be next season - and it's inevitable we are going to be linked with a number of players at home and abroad.

"We believe our squad is pretty strong and we don't envisage too many changes. In light of our policy of the last several years, we are looking at our home produced players and promoting from within, but also adding top quality players who can take us forward within the constraints of the salary cap and 20-20 rule."

Hetherington hinted Rhinos could bring in at least one new signing to strengthen the squad for this season's title run-in.

Yeah, he can play centre as well. It's always good to have depth though.

Definitely for depth - if McKinnon goes down or whomever we pick up to play fullback, what do we do? Getting Vuna and Kirk to compete for the back up position can only be a positive for the club.

Fiamacho, McKinnon is a very good player. I read somewhere In four games this year he's made over 250 metres with ball in hand. That's a phenomonal effort. He is great bringing the ball back and generally very solid. It'll be sad to see Webby go, but $350K per year versus $200K per year talks in terms of the back up you can obtain in other positions. It's vital we don't overstack certain positions, as Mick Watson's regime loved to do.

Yeah exactly. And when you look at the money equation of the two players you realise that wade mckinnon wont be a bad buy for the club. Especially at 200k compared to 350k and webby and mckinnon are basically talented in the same ways.

well im not really concerned with who is going to take webb's spot next season at fullback. but i am concerned with who is going to be our standoff next season.
with webby gone that means we lose a general kicker. unless jerome ropati learns quickly how to kick we are going to be in trouble. i dont think wade mckinnon is much of a kicker in general play.

In the Warriors current set up, the hooker's (Fien/Hohaia/Gatis) seem to do a fair job kicking out of dummy half to relieve pressure off Rovelli. Webb doesn't really get that highly involved in the kicking game.

He is a fair player but I don't think he is worth $350k,about $125k too much in my estimation. He would be about 7th choice for Queensland at best.when u look at it,the Warrioirs picked him up from QLD. cup when he was already over 20 years old and he is from Cairns so how come no other NRL club picked him up?He would be absolutely hopless in Union but good luck to him anyway.
Wade Mackinon I don't think is a good buy either,I would be looking at some other kids with more potential.
Just a thought if Webby moves to England will he still be able to play test match football for the Kiwis?
