Pretty poor performance overall. They were firing in the first half, let in some soft tries and then backed off completely in the second half.

It's almost like a complete reversal from last year, when we were the best team in the comp during the last 20 mins of a game.

Couldnt give it to Hurrell. His terrible defence far out weighed all the positives he did with ball in hand. Was a toss up between Matulino and Packer.. Matulino because he put a couple of good shots on aswell as carries.

Had to be Maloney out of position and doing nothing wrong back there. I know against the storm he usually kicks to the sideline to negate Slater in open play. We didn't do that today, maybe because he wasn't there and it cost us. Slater made huge metres on us and we couldn't tackle him.

edit: just looked he made 214m, Manu made the second most at 187m

How did we lose and how did we not fire up in the second half?

for me big question, why did Johnson not just run as far as he could into the 20-30m zone late in 2nd half? if he just accepted somebody could catch him before try line somebody else would have made metres after him and we woudl have finished close to try line not ...

Anyone else notice that there are only 15 names available for man of the match. I wouldnt have thought that they played well enough to rig the voting!

Slater was awesome today.

I don't like the Storm but you have to admire him. So many things to like.

He's so quick - much quicker than I realised. And the speed with which he gets into another position if a play doesn't come his way is impressive. Plus when Cronk puts up a bomb he's pretty much at full speed just as Cronk kicks it. No wonder he always competes for them.

Did I mention how quick he is?

Alright, i'll bite. Unless you have perfect seats you will always get the better overall view of the game on television, particularly with MySky available for replays.

Just watched the game...was at a golf tournament all day

What utter rubbish..I really thought the Warriors would of built on the 65 minutes of dominance from the first time we met the Storm. But this side is clueless.with the captain of the ship one coach Bluey well out of his depth
Bluey was meant to improve the attack...our attack has gone backwards.is very predictable and heavily reliable on Johnson.Defense is just woeful under Bluey

Vatuvei is no longer a winger...Im not sold on Taylor as a 1st grader

Matulino and Packer were good,, just lacked any backup..Maloney's positional play was better than ive ever seen from Fish

I think it depends, some things you can see better live - somethings better on TV. Defensive reads, cover defense after the opposition gets a line break, good kick chases, etc, are all things better judged when you can see the whole field.

well, positives for me i thought our forwards made some really good yardage. mara looked impressive when he was on, very good dummy half runs. brown is a great impact player but not for dummy half in my opinion.pretty good performane when you take into account no luck/locke/friend and injury forced team reshuffle. my negatives are that we let in a couple of soft tries, lack of structure in our attack and we have gone back to some schoolboy errors. trying not to pick on manu because i thought he was really good for most of the game but that pass that nearly got intercepted stopped my heart for a few moments, and getting run over the sideline twice!once i can kinda accept but twice from a 140odd game veteran? leading 12-0 had my hopes up but alwsys felt the inevitable was coming and it did

Mara for me. Everything went to shit when he went off. The forwards had no direction and lost their punch. The flow on effect is the back had little room to move in. When the dude did get back on it was too little too late, Mara would have had to pull out a Issac Luke 'Rambo' like performance to drag this game out of the fire. The late changes may have come because of the injuries and the bench being short. Still you cant leave a guy like that off the field, especially when you see the team go to mud after you pulled him off.

Brain dead decision from Bluey, have to wonder what game he was watching...his use of his bench is puzzling

read in the other thread mannering copping some flak as a captain. what a load of rubbish. mannering WAS in the refs face on a few occasions.

being the first game ive been to this year ill say what i noticed. we lost this mainly because we were playing with 15 men. rapira went down and packer took the field in his place and looked completely out of gas. he was hands on knees as soon as he hit the field. when fish got injured maloney went to playing in the line on attack and then running back to fullback on defence. at one point he talked to the trainer and fish came back on the field, maloney looked knackered when he went to the trainer. fish popped a pill with his water when the warriors got the ball back just after he took the field, im guessing a painkiller, and was visibly limping the whole time he was on the field. matulino seemed to be off the field a long time before his 2nd run and at 1 point in his first stint he had looked like he was slightly injured. packer spent half a set on his knees in the storm line while they attacked in the 2nd half, he was either out on his feet or dazed. manu had a few brain explosions and johnson looked like he had run out of gas when he got that ball and broke free toward the end. Slater was just brilliant, he looked like he would tear us apart every time he touched the ball and was only stopped by last ditch tackles.

my warriors mom mannering, immense defence. hurrell had a great 1st half, he always makes ground even in the worst situations. matulino played well while he was on and i thought manu had a good first half but that last 20 was cringe worthy. honourable mention to maloney, he was doing a tonne of work.

Just watched the replay on prime. Gutted.

There were two Warriors teams out there tonight , the first Quarter they played Championship football. Dominant tackles killed off the Storms play the ball speed and then our halves played some structured footie that tested the edges of the Storm.

After that our forwards lost the ascendancy and we played Warrior scramble which turned into Storm help yourselves ot endless off loads and gaps up the middle.

Half time
Our halves played six ...SIX ! impatient sets in a row no structure....then a rushed option on the fifth....Johnson got it right once....kicking into the in goal when your forwards are losing is a good idea.

I was totally pissed off at Johnson and to a lesser extent Maloney tonight, they played like amateurs....there is no way they were in control of our contribution to that game

it not about how you talk to the refs thats important, its how you lift your players and i dont think hes doing that enough, his individual efforts are inspirational but not everyone follows example, some guys need a yell in the ears to get going, not enough of that from him for mine
