Must win game. One of the few easier games in the first 10 rounds.

We are so pumped and confident that a loss would be very hard to accept.

Like every preseason I try to talk our chances down and then the expectation builds to fever pitch 🤣

I never learn…

Two evenly matched sides with similar concerns in their halves with fluidity. I think it will depend on which halves pairing can control and distribute the ball well enough.

We need this one. it will be close though. Going 14-10 Warriors

Don't like our bench,Addin pulls up injured in the warm up we bring on Lussick

The thing about Newcastle is that it's largely a new spine. Hastings and Miller are brand new, while Ponga in the halves and Brailey injured for most of last year means that their spine looks pretty decent, but no one knows how they will go. They could be great, or they could go shit.

Probably a good thing we're playing them so early, as if they gel in the next 10 rounds or so I think they'll go decent

10 to go, games tied. They throw the ball to Ponga, Best, Young to try and make something happen.

We throw the ball to ?????

If the games close that's what I fear might be the difference.
Johnson, Te Maire Martin, Pompey, Walker, Tohu Harris or Curran are the ones I would pick to potentially break a game open.

But yeah, significantly less than what other teams offer

Hopefully we don’t need to resort to throwing the ball to someone to make something happen, and instead hopefully Webby has instilled precision and structure into our backline to be able to take advantage of any weaknesses the opponents show. We don’t have game breakers like that, so I don’t think we would rely on that kind of game plan.

I want to see us build pressure with a good short kicking game, and great defense! Is that too much to ask?

Please keep Niukore on the edge Webby!

Haha but at the same time, playing devil's advocate - the game plan about precision and structure and taking advantage of and weaknesses certainly has not been something we've been accused of being before haha. Quite a big ask for a rookie coach with one preseason under his belt!

100% agree, but there will be several games this year where the scores are tied or there's one score in it and the difference will be the team who has a player that breaks the game open.

No game plan will avoid that, it's a situation we will definitely find ourselves in and it will likely come back to bite us multiple times unfortunately.

Hopefully tonight isn't one of those times though.

Cohesion.

That is all I want to see today.

People defending in a clear structure, attack same deal.

Not expecting it. Rarely ever see it in a Warriors opening round, 2018 in Perth from memory? last time we played like a team?

That was a good season too.

A lot riding on our spine then.

Every time the Warriors play I hope to see evidence of Coaching.

We don't have the game breakers but we do have a very very solid and experienced team. Defensively strong which is great for a Warriors team. Hopefully we are cool under pressure and the likes of Te Maire Martin and Walker can create some attacking opportunities. I am confident that there is a better team spirit this year also and the players will gel despite not playing alongside each other much. Our recruits have been very good.
