In May some members of the Vodafone Warriors-sponsored Kiwi Ferns (pictured) were guests on Sir Owen Glenn's Ubiquitous. On Sunday the team will be guests of honour at Mount Smart Stadium. Photo: Photosport.
The world champion Kiwi Ferns, Olympic gold medallist Lisa Carrington, sister city mayors and New Zealand X Factor contestant Taye Williams feature on the game day programme for Sunday’s 16th-round NRL clash between the Vodafone Warriors and Brisbane at Mount Smart Stadium (match day sponsor: New Zealand Herald).
The NRL match (4.05pm kick-off) is the last of a Super Sunday tripleheader starting with the Auckland Vulcans taking on Cronulla in a New South Wales Cup encounter (11.50am) followed by the NYC contest between the Vodafone Junior Warriors and Brisbane (1.45pm).
The Vodafone Warriors-sponsored Kiwi Ferns will be special guests in the Club Lounge and will also be presented to the crowd hours before they depart for England for the women’s Rugby League World Cup tournament.
As well as being introduced to the crowd, the Kiwi Ferns will form a guard of honour for the Vodafone Warriors when they run onto the field for the NRL battle.
They’re going for their fourth straight triumph having won the trophy all three times it has been contested stretching back to 2000.
Champion Olympic kayaker Carrington will be among the guests in the Club Lounge where she’ll be interviewed along with rugby league legends Shane Webcke and Allan Langer.
Auckland Mayor Len Brown was Lord Mayor Graham Quirk’s guest when the Vodafone Warriors met the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on June 3; Quirk has been in Auckland on a reciprocal visit this week. The mayors will be presented to the crowd ahead of the NRL match.
Taye Williams, who attracted a lot of support during TV3’s popular X Factor series, will perform for the crowd at halftime in the NRL match.

So uh, Fusitua is pretty shit so far. I'm seriously not seeing the hype around him at the moment. Every time I see him, it looks like unless he's attacking, he has no clue what he's doing?

Good scramble there.

They're really nailing them in the forwards.

Cant see that Townsend is a upgrade over Seijka so far...Townsend does look like he should be a back up singer for Ronan Keating though

Vete and Bhana having good debuts

Bhana had 30 tackles before half time or something ridiculous. These juniors are doing well against the undefeated Sharks so far

Promoting these juniors to NSW Cup was a fucking great move. This is an excellent Elliot initiative. Testing these units against real defense is the only real way to prepare them for first grade and see what they are made of. Already it looks like we have another couple of forwards just as good as Ikahihifo in there

A lot to like in the forwards. Pretty uninspiring by Havili while he was on though. Why is it that the club rates him over Mara seemingly? Mara is easily a class above in evasiveness and decision making. Sam Lousi is looking more like a first grader too.

Haha man Laumape is involved. Just kicked a nice one from the corner to give the Vulcans the lead with 5 to go.

Man, what a MINT game! Vete looks solid as, definitely needs to stay in NSW Cup. Laumape with two knee raises to end the game, well played but shit he needs to stop doing that haha.

It's a crack up really, they did it last season too. Heaps of 18 year olds in last years u20s team though.
