Most of those teams have private planes at their disposal. They can afford it. Not sure any NRL club is even close to that level...Does a player with a net worth est at $400m playing for a $1b+ club with a squad half the size of an NRL team fly cattle class?- unlikely...
Can a club with a couple of $1m players and some on less than $100k playing for a club worth approx $15m that just makes a profit in a comp where most don’t afford to substantially increase their travel costs?
I rest my case
If the NRL sent more non-Warriors games to NZ it would even out the travel load and build interest in the sport. NZ produces so much NRL talent but get very little in return.
Dont think they give a shit about the NZR. Bigger problems in their own backyard with AFL and A League. Rugby is dying in Australia and its easier to try get more fans in a place like Melbourne that has a similar population to NZ...They should fully go to war with the NZRU over here.
Pretty sure the Breakers travel further each season. Part and parcel of being a foreign country in another countries national comp...This crap wouldn't fly in any other comp.
Roosters are based Sydney and train by the SCG which is only a few hundred metres from Allianz and 20kms from ANZ Stadium where a lot of Sydney based teams play their home games. The reason they don't send the Roosters to Perth is they have no support out there. Shit its hard enough getting them to go to Allianz and thats right on their doorstep! The NRL aren't going to showcase the game to an empty stadium...Pretty sure the Roosters were the least travelled side last year too. That’s 3 years in a row, don’t tell me they don’t get favours
