General Warriors Stats 2018

The Truth

My negatives towards him are based purely on his size. He ain’t hurting or tiring anyone and he seems to be far move involved than needs to be on attack. That creates good stats but I’m pretty sure the raiders were happy it was him coming at them repeatedly rather than a bigger body.

Was shocked by that myself. His workrate would be in the top 3 of the team for that game. Wonder what people look at or for when they watch him???

In re watching the game the only thing I did notice is he was almost too involved at times, jumping in to take a run where one of the bigger boys might have been effective and involving himself in some of the backline moves where he seemed to get in the way a little. Pretty minor and a “good” problem I guess, maybe just a little out of synch coming into the team

This is probably a better stat to have on your side TBF.

1, 2, 3 in the comp right there...

But I do love some good old fashioned Warriors offloading into broken play. There's just something about it that can't be beat.

When I looked at these STATS the other day my first thought was that our top four status is no fluke.

You take those STATS and you factor in the fitness level so early in a season and the determination on the try line and you have a serious NRL campaign.

Bit of a Barry Basics stat but one I am happy to see after 4 rounds :

Points for : 3rd
Points against : 4th

Especially considering we could have kicked on in a couple of games and we also let in a couple of consolation tries.

Stat Attack: Back five driving Dragons and Warriors

It's no secret that getting each set of six off to a powerful start is a massive part of a team's success and after four weeks of the Telstra Premiership, NRL.com Stats can reveal the two teams getting the most metres out of their backlines are on top of the competition ladder.

It's clear the Eels are missing the impact of Semi Radradra and Clint Gutherson while a lack of early-set punch has been haunting the Cowboys and Broncos, with those three clubs occupying the bottom three places for back-five run metres per club.

While St George Illawarra's backline was somewhat unheralded coming into 2018, Nene Macdonald is having a breakout season, Matt Dufty has been a revelation and a fit-again Euan Aitken has been destructive.

For the Warriors, Ken Maumalo and David Fusitua may not be the most eye-catching names on the team sheet but they have done a mountain of work in the Warriors' slick 4-0 start to the year.

The Roosters, Rabbitohs and Tigers are the third, fourth and fifth best respectively. Overall, seven of the top eight clubs on the ladder are in the top eight for back-five run metres.

Of the top eight individual back-five players for total metres so far this year, the Warriors (Peta Hiku 478 metres, Maumalo 411 metres) and Dragons (Aitken 436 metres, Macdonald 426 metres) contribute four of those eight names.

When your back five are doing much of the heavy lifting it allows smaller more mobile forwards into the game, enter Jazz Tevaga!

I just still don't understand how our second smallest player is a forward?

Because he's gotta big heart and a badass attitude so he has no fear of a bigger pack and won't back down.

Remember when we traded Faitala-Mariner for Shaun Lane? That big tall sack of useless.

That's kinda my point

I like Tevaga. Just saying if we could get more go forward with a Vete or Satae.

Back five meters are as we suspected

Lock in Hiku Ken Kata Roger Tuivasa-Sheck Fusitua.

I posted somewhere else that for Beale to claim his Jersey he will have to show big meters from the Kick return and out of Dummy Half.

The Dragons have been doing what we are now copying, for a very long time.

Be interesting to see if the pupil is ready to overtake the teacher this season.

The other thing the Dragons do against us is offload

Teams that cheat in the ruck shut the Dragons down...then they lose their way.

Not gonna happen under the new Reffing edicts.
