Vodafone Warriors Sam Rapira and Lance Hohaia each scored two tries to guide the Waicoa Bay Stallions to a commanding win over the Counties Manukau Jetz in today's opening match of the 2006 Bartercard Cup competition in Ngaruawahia.

The Jetz actually led 16-12 at halftime but then folded completely as the Stallions posted 46 unanswered points.

Rapira and Hohaia revelled in the recovery with four tries between them while Hohaia also kicked nine goals for a total of 26 points.

Roman Hifo, a member of the Vodafone Warriors' Allied Work Force elite development squad, scored a try for the Jetz.

Details:

WAICOA BAY STALLIONS 58 (S Rapira 2, L Hohaia 2, M McGrath 2, J Auru, S Beale, H Karena, T Vilamu tries; L Hohaia 9 goals).
COUNTIES MANUKAU JETZ 16 (T Tuifua, A Tauai, R Hifo tries; J Tavaga 2 goals).

good on yuh lance ......he took his dumping well and came out and responded the best way possible. sounds like he had a blinder..

hohaia on da bench next week ? hope so

yeah he's going to have perform well for the Stallions to try and get back into the top grade.
Good luck to both the Waicoa Bay players, and go Stallions!!

I think Lance would have to rate up there with one the most hard done by players in the side behind my man Wai. I just don't get the positional changes of the coaches and their reluctance to play players in their specialst positions. Lance is a prime example, he is not a hooker. He is a creator that needs time, space and players running of him to work his magic just like any other quality half in the game.

I always thought that if Lance was in another club in the NRL he would be a superstar due to the simple fact that his style of play ie Matt Orford is not suitted to the way the Warriors use to play when they were they were hot.

But things have changed and it apperas that they are trying to change to a more team orientated style that would suite Lance, but he can't do much if all he is doing is passing the ball out of dummy-half. He needs to be in the halves.
