Richard Fail has no idea what he is talking about. He thinks he can ride into town and tell people from another culture how they are misguided. Sad thing is its Fail who is the poor misguided fool.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Kiwis do not support losers. Especially Aucklanders. It wouldn't matter if you put on a free carnival, R18 strip bar and buffalo wing buffets at every game. The game is the centre stage. You could all that for the Auckland Blues and I would still never go to a game.

We may not have seen the last of him but he won't be buying jack shit in this country after failing to buy the Warriors. NZR certainly wont put up with his bullshit and will the simpleton in his place quick smart. Sooner or later he will fade back into oblivion and go back to selling toothpaste to get a 2nd hand car...

this is on the money. he is ignorant and has zero idea. if one thing works in the US it does not translate into success in NZ/Aus.. there is not a world wide blue print for sports success. Even if there was he has no experience in american sport either lol

Obviously this guy is an attention whore & we have a soft NZ media letting him run his mouth while not fully scrutinising his actual record as a businessman.

Would a successful businessman's wife really need to sell Amway toothpaste to make payments on a 2010 Toyota? AND Yet we are supposed to believe money is no object to this consortium.

This guy reckons he can revolutionise sports entertainment in NZ - yet can't afford to get a new car for his wife? Yet we are haters or idiots for questioning if he is actually capable of achieving what he's spouting.

I feel bad about posting this - but this is the reality for who this guy is.
I'll give it too him he talks a good game though.

"You haven't seen the last of me. I'm so super popular and everyone wants me so much that I have 6 trillion other offers that I am working through right now from organisations that are soooo much better than yours. I barely have time to think whilst I work my way through the intricacies of these offers......"

[Despite these time consuming offers and the work that I'm doing, the priority is to log on to the fan forum of the team I pretended to be close to buying to 'throw some more bombs' at random (racist/ARL spy) dudes in their lounge while they are eating dinner in an effort to try and stay relevant and be noticed by somebody...anybody...]

Rugby union is the most popular sport in the country and eden park has free wifi.
In a city of over a million people I can’t comprehend why there isn’t 50,000 people at every blues game.
1. Nobody supports losers
2. Too much rugby = less interest
3. Too easy to watch at home in comfort of warm lounge, cold beers, buffalo wings and strippers

So what you're saying is that Mt Smart needs heated seats, wings, and strippers. Hell, don't even live in Auckland and I'd make my way to Mt Smart for that.

Had that dejavu feeling when our new owners came out talking about winning a title in 3-4 years. The big talk has started already.

That article listing we haven't heard the last of him. He comes across as someone who takes thing way to personally. If someone purchases something for a lower prices than you were willing to pay for it, count your blessings and move on. Instead we hear that the Watson was so desperate for cash he'd take top dollar from whoever he could get it from.

It that was the case surely the club would of been sold months ago for $24 million.

Most businessmen if they make things personal do it privately. The majority don't sling insults around turning off a market they hope to do business in. Most just move on to the next deal.

I dont find the ticket prices too bad, you can get a family pass 2 adults 2 kids in Silver zone for $50. How much cheaper could it be? Thats about the same as going to the movies for my family.
Sure the food isnt cheap but you expect a bit of a premium at an event. White Lady burgers are good too, but get there quick at halftime or you miss the start of the 2nd half.

Did they really say 3-4 years? Bloody gumbies. Despite the efforts of the current group and we're not even halfway through the current season.

Something I have never understood in pro sports is that the sport undermines the venue by selling to tv... effectively receiving money from television in exchange for lower gate takings.

TV revenue (via nrl grants) is 12.4m plus, sponsorship is several million more, plus merchandise sales, etc, etc

If we got 10,000 average per game @ $12 average per seat x 12 home games per year, that only 1.5m in annual gate takings... a relatively small percentage of overall revenue.

Why do pro sports not lower the gate income to the point of selling out every game... even if the have to give the tickets away, as I believe the extra fans and growth in sport followers would lead to greater tv revenue that would eclipse the lost gate takings.

I believe the gate takings should be a loss leader to increase the real value which comes from tv and this should be a directive from the nrl down as a condition of receiving the extra funding.

If I was in charge the games would be sold out every week (but we might end up bankrupt lol)

Yep I’ve got three kids all boys who like the league, but to go, parking, drinks and food it’s just too much. Improve the food and drink aspect and stop ripping off the punters, if Mt Smart didn’t charge the vendors so much or capped the prices it would be a better experience. A bit like going to the movies, tickets are 15 bucks but the popcorn and drinks are another 20, it bullshit.
Took my Elderly Diabetic Mum to a game one time, poor old security guards have the ignominy of going through her diabetic snack food and declaring it not allowed.
Same deal with all her pill bottles and injection, scrutinized because it is their job.
I felt sorry for security because I know what it's like, but thankfully being prepared ahead of time for that discussion saw common sense prevail.

Still begs the question why are there no healthy affordable food options available to a demographic like a Warriors crowd ?

Auclkand City council hello you rules Nazi's....got you there.

Being an elderly diabetic myself I find it equally frustrating. Was more angry with the security guard who refused to let an elderly couple with their daughter in a wheelchair go through the gate at Beasly entry even though Sir Butcher had only just had them open the gate to let him drive through. The couple luckily had plenty of assistance to get the chair up the hill and through gate B. I know security have set protocols but ffs that was disgusting from a customer service point of view.

Love your nickname btw.

Yes that is pretty dam well disgusting.

You can blame three things:

Poor recruitment.

Poor training.

Global terrorism. The world's gone mad, event security done well should look more like slick, welcoming, tourism event promotion.

To get that on a large scale you need smart people....and they cost money unfortunately.

Works for Manchester City.

Money and the willingness to spend it become no objects with owners like these...chump change.
