Whilst I agree with the thoughts of resting key players, it is also more important than people may think to stay as competitive as possible to the end of the season.
We are starting to gain some respect as Aussie pundits are seeing us stay in contests for longer. Taking the season lightly and opening the floodgates could damage that, which wouldn't be ideal given we are hoping to be very active in the recruitment market. We have enough things going against us there without a complete capitulation. We want to give the impression that we need just a couple of key signings to propel into the top 4.
Sure give a couple of fringe players some time, but keep the changes minimal. It helps the new guys anyway.
