General Warriors Have 'Plenty To Play For'

They may not be able to make the top eight, but that is not letting any motivation slip in the Warriors camp this week.

Coach Ivan Cleary has made no changes to the side that beat the Melbourne Storm last weekend for Sunday's match up with the Roosters, which is their last home game of the season.

Cleary denies his side has nothing left to play for, saying his team is a professional one.

He believes his side has come a long way this year, and they are not going to slacken off just because they are out of the top eight.

Cleary says they have proved they can match the big teams, so they want to keep winning right until the end.

Long-serving Awen Guttenbeil and Brent Webb will make their farewell appearances at home.

Guttenbeil, who has signed for English Super League club Castleford, and Webb who is off to Leeds, will run out onto Mount Smart Stadium for the final time on Sunday.

Cleary admits it will be a sad occasion, and the team wants their farewell appearance to be a good one.

A win at Mount Smart Stadium this weekend would be the team's fourth in a row.

I agree, there is still lots to play for. Get out there and have some fun and show those critics how wrong they were at the start. Thinking we'd get nowhere being -4 behind everyone else. We're a good team and we'll show them!

Winning 4 or more in a row twice this year will serve as great motivation for the team in starting the 2007 season. It`s always better to struggle earlier in a season and end on a winning streak than the other way around.

We have already done better than last year with two games to go, we really want to improve that to have a good feeling of improvement and sense of purpose this year.

Yeah lol. And a 13-11 record would be the 4th best win-loss record in the history of the club after the round robin. So if we can do that itl add more sucsess to the year.

Plenty to still play for, even if we can't make the 8. I don't think the boys will slack off, they will want to farewell those who are leaving and finish the year on a high note.

yeh i agree that they still have plenty to play for!! it really annoyed me last night on the footy show when fatty called this weeks game "another nothing game". its not a nothing game for the players and its definately not a nothing game for the fans!!
