General Warriors Apparel

Not sure if this is the right area. Marketplace didn't seem like the right fit.

Was just wondering what you guys thought about the price and general warriors gear.

1) As a supporter, I don't like how there are so many different jersey's year in year out. I'd like to perhaps once every 3 years they changed. I might even buy one every three years. However, at this annual change, I won't.

2) What do you think of the price. The pricing on Jersey's are on par with All Black apparel. I'm not too fussed with it if they didn't have 7 Jersey's every year. See 1)

3) Other gear. Scarves at $25 is reasonable. Looking at Letterman Jacket and almost choked when I saw the price tag of $220. I also think the shorts are way too expensive...seriously $70?

4) Am I just too cheap?

Yesterday at the game I went early to watch a couple of the early games. Had some time to kill so went to the merchandise shop in the east stand. Not impressed. $60 for a t shirt with a design on it that quite frankly was amateurish. A guy beside me brought a sweatshirt and because he spent over $100 the lady said he was eligible for a free gift - 2 warrior stickers!
When I stood back it all seemed a bit trashy. I guess I could have got a key ring for $5.

Wasn't just them. Hanging out for a coffee and when I handed out my eftpos card was told only cash.it was then wen I looked at all the food/drink stalls in the eastern stand - all had cash only signs. Any market you go to now most stalls have mobile eftpos at them. So, due to no cash and the lack of motivation to leave the east stand in search of modern technology - spent nothing. Mt Smart eh?

Yeah I was at the game yesterday too. Tried on the Letterman just in case I really wanted it and if so a friend who has season membership gets 10% off. Still...it is way over priced. Not just at the game but in general all over the stores. I'd love to support the Warriors more by buying merchandise but they make it too hard for me.

Some things seem expensive for the sake of it. I'm all for helping the club, but if you're going to charge $180+ for a replica strip, I'd like to know what % is going directly to the Warriors.

Buck, if you're talking about The Beast t shirt, then calling it amateurish is being rather nice. When I first saw the design on twitter I laughed because I just thought it was some throw-away design. Once I saw it on a t shirt I couldn't believe people would actually want it. It's like someone at Warriors HQs 10 year old just learned some photoshop or something.

Anyway, I've spent more on merch this year than I ever have before, but I like to support the club in ways other than memberships (because I'm in Wellington and I don't particularly like the away membership).

Yeah not having eftpos is rubbish, and then if you want to have cash out they have some dodgy contracted company which charges you like 5 bucks for using the machine....

Not sure if you are a size small like I am but https://rugbyleagueshop.co.nz/New_Zealand_Warriors_Commemorative_Jersey

I think if I was a Wellingtonian I'd get it for sure, but wearing Wellington colours gives me the shivers even if I did live there for a year.

Few of the Wellington jerseys were floating around yesterday. Must admit they're a fine looking jersey. But I guess only meaningful if you're from Wellington, or northcote lol

Would never happen at Eden Park.;)

Some of my close Warrior fans who drink & watch the games in the same pub as me, saw some guy with a
Warriors type face scarf (like below), on some Fan in the stands at Mount smart..

And we would like one.

Cannot see any on the Merchandise website. The Fan may have made it himself.

I actually thin the Wellington jersey is something special. I marks a milestone of the first New Zealand away home game. I commemorates Wellington League's hundred years, and it looks good. I grabbed on when they were online for $90. I sent it to Auckland last week with a mate and got 13 autographs on it, so it is now my favourite jersey (when it finally gets home). It is a strip that will never be repeated or replicated.

On the constant jersey changes, isn't the deal that the home and away strips remain for 3 years? Only the pre-season (rubbish) jerseys, and the Women of League and Heritage strips change annually. I disregard the preseason jerseys. They are a novelty item and should be sold dirt cheap, not full priced. The heritage jersey should change every year, but they need to find traditional designs to relicate with a modern spin, rather than the gaudy ill-conceived concept jerseys they throw at us. I like this years heritage jersy for the fact that it commemorates our 2002 jersey, but I dislike the tribal mentality they are putting into everything. The flax weave just spoils it. I don't mind the Women in League design, but would never wear it myself. The mixture of ethnic designs, paying tribute to the cultural melting pot the team has always been, lends itself to the colour and the concept of that round. Normally I would be against the added Wellington jersey, but to a non-Auckland fan, it was a big deal that they took a game away, so it was a worthwhile reason.

I have one complaint about not having enough one off jerseys this year, though. I was extremely disappointed to see nothing on the jersey last week to acknowledge Manu's testimonial match. Either a new jersey, or at least an embroidered patch marking the occasion should have been worn. If Guttenbeil gets a random design for his testimonial, then the beast definitely deserved something special (not a ratshit designed t-shirt).

I have always thought the prices have been insane, but at least now Rebel Sports include NRL merchandise in their sales, so they are occasionally sold at near-reasonable prices. The Letterman jacket price is diabolical, but when you think a jersey runs $185 normally, then $220 for a thick, warm winter coat is probably not that bad.

I usually get a jersey every 2 or 3 years, and occasionally get a t-shirt to mark something special, but don't get a lot of merchandise.

I am off to the Gold Coast in a few weeks, and have heard they have the best NRL merchandise shop around, so will spend a bit of cash there. I am after stuff for my bar and future gamesroom, which doesn't seem to be available in NZ. I did hear Scurrah make comment about the possibility of the club getting more involved in that type of gear in the future, in the members forum. I would like to get a few sets of different Warriors glasses to display behind the bar (also a signed ball would be great displayed on the bar, if anyone knows how to source one without paying astronomical prices), and am working on building a Warriors-themed sports bar/gamesroom downstairs over the next year or 2, that will need a lot of gear.

Sneak into the east stand, there's a shit load of gear already framed and ready to hang on the wall there. I'm sure you'd be allowed to take what ever you wanted.
PS another reason to stick Eden Park up the councils arse.

He didn't happen to mention getting Eftpos did he? It's this new technology that's really cool, don't need cash just this card. East stand don't know what it is

Yep, he said it is happening. They have already picked out the spot. Eftpos at every hotdog stand, and even money machines. They will be located around the food and merchandise stalls at Eden Park.:nailbiting:

Unfortunately I bought one at their peak price. I remember seeing that sale a little while ago and fuming D:

Definitely my favorite Warriors strip for a while so I'm ok paying up for it.

Got myself a Warriors hoodie on its way to me as we speak.

However in saying that. I might still get it. It's cheap, but think I need to go into a shop and try on a small. 2011 Heritage Jersey I have pinches slightly under my armpits which is annoying. The Warrios small is smaller than the All Blacks small. =/

You must be tiny. I am by no means big, solid or fat and I consider going to an XXL in Warriors jerseys. I would be a medium to loose large in most clothing but they make their jerseys way under-sized. Are we supposed to wear them as tight as the players?

I get small, but they're fairly tight. I prefer a tighter fit (heyo). I am a pretty small guy though, 5'10, 70ish kg. It's always irked me that it's so hard to find Warriors gear down here in Welly in a small or medium. Damn near everything is large and up.

There are a few good NRL stores on the Gold Coast. The best is probably GoodScore, Central Park Plaza, Central Park Avenue, Ashmore ( buy the surf wear factory shops). The Titans have moved their store from Robina to Pacific Fair shoping centre and their is also good selection of apparel at Nextra, Stocklands Shoping centre in Burleigh heads.
I will definatley be calling in at a few of these stores when I pop over for the Titans game in a few weeks time.

5"7, 67kgs. Most of it is lean muscle but am trying to lose the fat and gain a bit more muscle. The thing is with us little fellas is that if we wear bigger clothes it makes us look even small, where as on you big fellas it doesn't have that negative effect.

Might be fighting over the same stuff. I planned our holiday around the Titans game. Got my tickets early. Will be front row about 5 metres back from half way. Not sure if it is a good spot, but I wanted to guarantee front row seats and the centre section was already sold out up to 20 rows back. I bought the tickets a few days before they announced the day and time of the game.

I had already found out about GoodScore, Central Park Plaza. That's the one I had heard was the best. Was going to go there probably early on game day. Not too far away from our accommodation. We are staying at Sea World Resort and Ashmore appears (on Google Earth, at least) to be fairly close by (easy bus trip). We will probably be going to the big shopping centre near Skilled Park before we head to the game, too. I'm not sure which shopping centre that is.

Won't get a lot of time for shopping (thank God - my wife loves shopping, but I abhor it). We are there for 5 nights and with 6 and 10 year old daughters, they will want to see as many of the theme parks as possible. Probably do sea World, Game Day, Movie World, Dream World, and perhaps a lazy day with some whale watching, Infinity mazes, and some other stuff (suggestions appreciated).

Heading up to Rockhampton for another 9 days to see Dad and 3 brothers and a thousand nieces and nephews I have never met. Not a lot to do up there though (probably why my brothers have so many kids;)) . Most likely end up drinking in the sun, and not much else. Hopefully there is a bit more happening in Rockhampton than when I was last there in 2001.[DOUBLEPOST=1375599864][/DOUBLEPOST]

Fair enough. I'm not big though. 90kgs and 6'1. But I find that unless the jersey is a bit loose, I end up looking pregnant. I have skinny legs, which makes my gut look bigger than it is in tight clothing.
