Excellent information in here.
I'd love to see stats on who is scoring our tries, and what part of the field they are scored (or conceded)... and whether from kicks or repeat sets etc.
It'd make for interesting observation of our continuing evolution as a team.

Be great to see but the stats available from nrl.com and nrlstats are pretty generic. To get that in depth, would pretty much require someone to study each try we've scored this year from video of the games and then collate it.
The NRL used to release a weekly 'stats' based article last year - but I haven't seen one for a while.

I think there would be value in are the tries scored in the middle third of the field, or left edge, right edge... Probably also worth knowing if they came from kicks, or through the hands, and also from where the set of six started, and where the play that led to the try started (e.g. if the set of six started on halfway, but the tackle that led to the try was on the 10 metre line - could be some value in knowing that) - sometimes the stats would coincide (e.g. Hurrell's intercept), sometimes they wouldn't... Oh, and if it's a try scored from dummy half or not (I hate conceding tries from dummy half).
I'd be happy to help out with recording the info too depending on what's needed. There's no need to lump all of the information gathering on one person. We all benefit from the stats...

Pretty much all of the above but in reverse.
I think the reason I never did it was it seemed to difficult what stats to concentrate on.

We can either store the info ourselves or forward it to one of the stats freaks on here - if they want it. I CBF with mega spreadsheeting (I do that enough at work) so yeah haha.

Any help is always good. I'm happy to spreadsheet it - I do enough of it at work as well, but the stuff I do at work is never as fun as NRL stats

I already do this...
I record them from where the linebreak occured and not where the ball was dotted down. eg Manus try last week was recorded in the FOR Left column and not middle and same as Konrads for the Right instead of under the posts as it ended up.
As for how trys were scored (through the hands, kick, etc) you just need to watch the highlights on Youtube . If Hitman82, Miket12 and Jay M could define the different possibilities of scoring a try then Id be happy to help...

Zone Scored (the zone a break occurred makes perfect sense)
Break Occurred (where the line was broken if a running try)
Final Play (note ie scrum, pass, kick etc)
· From Pass (offload / cut out / one off the ruck)
· From Kick (who) (field / in goal) (bomb / chip / grubber / cross)
· From Dummy Half
Tackle Number
Set Initiated (metres out)
Repeat set

Probably should of explained what the stats were saying when I first started doing them but the parts of your post that Ive made bold can be found below through the normal stat sheets I do for all games...
The parts of your post that are red can be done easily enough (with enough spare time!) through the highlights on Youtube but the bits in green are going to need to done by watching full game recordings (most availible on Youtube) and may take some time. Good thing is you can use the stats above to fast forward to the proceeding 2 minutes before a try but games like the Panthers and the first Broncos game at Suncorp are going to need full viewing. I'll do the Broncos game if you do the Panthers one ...

Just to break it up Ive split the games before and after the darkest day in our history to get a view of how bad we were and how much we have improved. Good to see the stats somewhat mirror the on field actions...
- Before we were making 13 less points on average per game. We are now making 14 more then the opposition.
- We were making 20 less hitups and 262 less metres on average then the opposition. We are now making on average 21 more hitups and 167 more metres.
- We were playing 5 less sets and completing 1 less before but are now making and completing 2 more then the other team.
- Our completion rate has increased 2%
- We were making on average 1 more error but we are now making no more or less.
