The bronze statue of league legend Wally Lewis has been vandalised for the second time in a matter of weeks, possibly by a New Zealander.

The attack on the statue, which is at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, has come just hours before tonight's Bledisloe Cup rugby test between Australia and New Zealand.

The statue was spray painted blue on the eve of the State of Origin league decider in June, and police have yet to find the culprit. This time a man sprayed a small section of the statue with black paint.

Queensland sport minister Tom Barton says the stadium's security staff had told him the man who did it was a New Zealand rugby supporter.

That last statement suggests that the security staff weren't too far from the incident...but they weren't able to catch him?

You'd think there'd be a security camera or two watching over the statue, considering the number of times it has been vandalised. :?

I'm not sure how many times it has been vandalised before but its only the second time in a month or so, maybe now they will think of installing a video camera. Or maybe their money would be put to better use hiring fitter security staff.
