Press Release by Vodafone New Zealand 2:52pm, 27th February 2006
Vodafone One Tribe
A new tribe is gathering within New Zealand as rugby league fans everywhere join together to support the Vodafone Warriors during the 2006 NRL season.
Vodafone One Tribe today opened its 'doors' officially to invite all kiwi sports fans to become members of the first official supporters club for the Vodafone Warriors.
Vodafone first announced the new supporters club on January 26, at the reveal of the club's new playing strip, to unite fans everywhere and confirm its unconditional support for the team.
"The time has come for a united show of support for the team as they head into one of the toughest competitions in the world," Van Henderson, Vodafone General Manager of Brand and Sponsorship said today.
"Vodafone One Tribe is free and is open to all sports fans as we work to create the biggest and best army of support for our team.
"During the season we will reward members of Vodafone One Tribe with exclusive events, competitions and experiences with the team that will blow people away.
"We want to use our relationship with the club to bring the fans closer to the players.
"In the light of the challenges faced by the club at the moment we are pleased that our supporters club, which we have been working on since last year, will provide fans with a way to show their unconditional support," said Henderson.
For the first home game against the Storm, on 12 March, Vodafone is staging a major 'Tribal Gathering" at Ericsson Stadium that will start two hours before kick off.
The highlight will be a free performance by one of New Zealand's most popular bands, accompanied by a player signing session, banner creation, face painting and heaps of prizes.
