I think most accomplished Russia watchers think Putin will leave office...in a box. How he gets there is the question. The best he can hope for is to die in his sleep.

It is one of Putin's biggest failures not to have a successor, I reckon he will step down soon and go into a position roughly equivalent to our Governor General. Significantly he already has immunity from Prosecution.

These types do not give up power easily that is true. What follows Putin could be worse.

Agree generally but annexing Crimea suggests Russia took it over where Crimea actually joined Russia after a referebdum voted 95% in favour of returning to Russia.
