Considering Tomkins will need the following qualities in a wing man :

- Must be quick enough to catch up to him

- Must have good hands / expect a pass at any time

- Must have good defense to counter the undoubted assault that will come Tomkins way by NRL stratergists

Whom ever people chose out of that Lot will determine how much bang for our buck we get out of our Million dollar Dalley M contender.

I urge you to leave all bias aside and chose well young Sky Walkers......

Whether or not Tomkins will be worth it will be the responsibility of this club soon.

He will be our best player on arrival (at least the best attacking player we've ever seen in Warriors colours )

Described on other NRL forums by one eyed NRL troglodytes as Slater like in his support play and reads a game / runs the attack like Lokyer ( that one comes from Titans fans when they thought they were getting their sticky little fingers on him )

He does look left and right like Lockyer and has Fish's speed with an added little turbo boost thing he does when players get near or he burns them with the last five meters to take the corner Tries

Players fall off him like Mckinnon.

I guess if we really stuff it up we won't see any of that. If the strategy is for Tomkins to compliment what we have as opposed to building all team selections around him.

Tomkins is the Fullback.

That leaves the choice of what wingers we place at his disposal.

At Wigan he has one of the best Wingers in Charnley

2011 Tomkins 33 tries Charnley 27

2012 Tomkins 36 Charnley 36

2013 after eleven games Tomkins 14 tries Charnley 11 tries

Could you get the try assists stat? It seems his Chosen Winger tends to be the beneficiary of countless try assists courtesy of Mr Tomkins.

And is Chanley a right or left winger?

You ask for pace, good hands and a defensive eye... I say FISH!

I'm torn between Beast and Fish.

I think Fish will be able to turn more of the opportunities into points, but I believe that a combo with Manu could be more fruitful as he needs more D on him.

I'll go for Manu, assuming he can keep his form. Manu and Tomkins just sounds so deliciously devastating.

Gotta shoot off for work , this is where Some of the Wigan lads would be great to consult with.

Fish can't say no to that.

I chose Locke , probably for the same reasons , very hard to split between the two if Locke reconverts to Wing like his first season there....Locke while not as fast edged out fish when I started having League porn day dreams of him passing the ball back to Tomkins from the wing lol a bit of interplay....[DOUBLEPOST=1372386527][/DOUBLEPOST]

Can't say no to Manu either A jab and a Left hook from hell

Edit : for non boxing fans Tomkins is ALis Jab , Manu is Fraziers Left hook

Aside from that 4 Nations, our record playing in he UK is not great so you'd think a fight between NZ and the soap dodgers to play Australia in the final....for a change

Derailing my own thread before it got started. But If you consider in the Unlikely event ( like NZ being World champion defenders ) of an England V NZ final....it would have been a less than meaningful matchup before the " Tomkins effect " was dreamed up by the Warriors HQ ( both Warriors HQ )

im not 100% sold on Manu, despite the two lengthy tries of late & some strong return ball carrying....in my couch coach opinion i still think the blokes
very vulnerable on the wing

i am surprised locke is the preference on the wing. i would have all 3 of the others ahead of him on the wing. preferably fish and laumape, both good in the air and laumape brings power and fish pure pace
I didn't actually read Sup42's entire initial post (I thought I had a lot of spare time, my good sir you are thorough!), I assumed he meant wingman/ partner in crime/ side-kick, rather than man on the wing.

So I was more looking for the guy who will feed the most off Tomkins.

Charnley wears the 2 shirt. He also has an excellent partnership with his centre, Darrell Goulding. Don't read too much about Sam in Josh Charnley's tries. Sam can create chances from anywhere on the park and the resulting tries can be scored anywhere on the back line.

What I would say is that Sam is given more attention by the opposition which means other players get more freedom. Its no coincidence that the next 2 top try scorers are our 2 wingers, Josh and Pat Richards. Next one one the list is Liam Farrell, our second row.

Point I am making is if you already have try scorers in your team, they will probably score more when Sam is there, whether he assists or not!

I would debate that until at least round 6;)

If he is allowed to come here-It's not the clubs that sign off on his contract...

It's good to have some balance in the Tomkins Mania , Mate I'm seized by the fever , probably the result of a neglected Rugby league childhood ( No Superstar signings / Craig Bellamy pulling out / no SBW )

I see the Hyperbole this way , as far as Super signings go the Roosters / Rabittohs etc have had all the Jizz fests while sober types have sat back sensibly and been measured about people like Sonny Bill / GI in terms of whether they will prove worth the hype.

Mean time Life is short and If we sign this dude I'm going to party till the bubbly goes flat ( like those Rooster / Rabbits fans b4 they knew for certain if those two were worth it ).

As for waiting till round six , since when has a Warriors team looked anything like a competitive Side by round six LOL

TBH I do rate him, I just wish that he was our only signing, when you look at the way the cap is, I find it hard to believe we won't lose at least one top liner.
Who ever is on the minimum wage in the current team will affect the way the salary cap is calculated for next season and if they make the end of year tour this will also be factored in with the way the cap sits at the moment, I believe that Kon and Ngani have good chances of making the Kiwi squad and if our team carries on winning, Mateo will also be considered for the Ozzies..

How much can Clubs spend?

The Salary Cap for 2012 is a maximum limit of $4.4m for the 25 highest remunerated players at each club. All other players that play NRL in the current year must fit under a $350,000 Salary Cap.
For players in the top 25 Salary Cap or 2nd Tier Salary Cap, the Salary Cap value for a player each year is broken down into the following categories:
  • Playing Fee - fully included in the Salary Cap
  • Included benefits – all benefits provided to players including accommodation, travel, motor vehicles, interest free loans and manager’s fees and any applicable fringe benefits tax.
  • Win bonuses and appearance fees – Payments for appearing in or winning a game are calculated based on the number of NRL games the player played in the prior year multiplied by any applicable bonuses. For win bonuses, the calculation is capped at 13 wins.
Example: A player appeared in 10 NRL games in 2010 and now has a 2011 Contract for $50,000 contract fee plus $1,000 per game. His Salary Cap Value would be $50,000 plus 10 times $1000 = $60,000.
  • Other bonuses – Any other bonus contained in a player’s contract will be calculated in the Salary Cap if the NRL Salary Cap Auditor expects him to achieve the bonus based on his prior year’s performance.
Example: A player played State of Origin in 2010. His 2011 Contract includes a $20,000 State of Origin bonus. This bonus will be included in the player’s 2011 Salary Cap Value.
Note:Where a bonus is achieved by a player but was not assessed in the player’s Salary Cap Value, the bonus is carried forward and calculated in the player’s Salary Cap Value for the following year. .

Laumape - no chance on making the kwis
Hurrell - would be 5th choice centre for kiwis imo

Why are you highlighting the red? not all players have bonuses for making rep team.s
so just relax a little

just wondering why you would have a rep bonus in a contract for your club anyway?
