I don't know too much about NYC players but people on the forums are talking about Carlos Tuimavave but no one mentions dude who helped win 2011 NYC Final.

Is this guy a prospect for the Warriors?

i thought he was better than carlos last year (though carlos was injured a lot). plays a lot like maloney i reckon. good support player and nippy runner

Like I said on another thread he warmed up with the juniors but got changed when they kicked off.

How big is he? I remember him looking super small out there

I rate Meads quite highly - looked to be a thinking player, and he'd developed a nice combination with Carlos. Meads is slightly bigger than Lino (couple of cms, couple of kgs), so I'm not sure why the preference for Mason Lino in the #7 this season, unless he's showing more in training, maybe. Of course, it could come down to the goal kicking.

Yeah I rate Meads over Lino but Lino is the better goal kicker, but on the subject of #7 I would rate Sam Cook who plays for the Northcote Tigers in the Fox cup over either of them.

Whole package imo. Meads had never been very impressive, and Lino can kick. Probably more a case of Lino taking his chance during injuries and being too good to drop. Not to mention that if he somehow kicks on, Lino could be a good marketing opportunity if you look at things a bit cynically...

I feel Meads got ignored last year. Carlos got all the plaudits and Meads had to settle for scraps. I really like Meads. Carlos is a little like Johnson in the fact he is focused on scoring before the ground work has been done, while Meads is like Maloney. He will settle things down and take the sometimes more intellegent option. Carlos and Jordan, like Maloney and Johnson tend to compliment each others style, but Carlos and Shaun cop the majority of the publicity for their work.

I really like the passion that Meads shows, as well.

Hasn't he been making the odd appearance for the Vulcans. I guess this means they are seriously considering him as someone worth retaining?

Sam Cook goes alright and will get a summer trial with warriors or another club.
tbh Eko Malu is a halve and should be given a crack in his natural position at some stage (if a series of injuries)

However remember their ages. Lino has 2 more years in 20s, Cook (if selected) has one and Meads is in his last year
the warriors have spent plenty of time with lino and he still has two more years in 20s - so will push him.

As for Jordan Meads....well the warriors promoted lino over meads ...so shows the warriors views on him

as for getting selected in the vulcans...that was only past two weeks.

He talks for the sake of talk (on field) and I know that would rark players up
I heard he was picked for the Papakura reserves...when dropped by the warriors

So the warriors pushed for him to play for the vulcans

Meads will be on 2nd tier money now and that'll probably continue next year. If it runs out this year then he'll probably end up at a NSW Cup or Q Cup team.

Why would Lino be a good marketing opportunity, because he looks Asian? He'd be Samoan with Chinese bloodlines at a guess.

Pretty much. Cynical but true. Not many Asian players in the NRL. I didn't know he was Samoan though, figured he was one Kiwi/Island parent and one Asian parent.

I'm only guessing but I'd be sure that he'll be a 1/4 Chinese at the most. That mix would be a hard sell to the Chinese community and I couldn't see it being an intentional target market for the Warriors really.

It's not all bad that we dont have any hugely talented halfbacks coming through at the moment, they'd only end up in Aus, making one of their clubs stronger, and be brainwashed
into playing origin. :D

Yeah, Asians and League dont seem like a natural mix. In general the Asian middle class/immigrants etc actually harbour much more of a dislike of Polynesians etc, as they experience a good portion of street crime and general abuse.
