This was a huge talking point after the Dragons game. People were losing their minds.

But in the cold light of day, it seems that the team wins or losses with whoever is the halfback. If they all button off and give up easy meters on every single play I don't see how winning is possible at all.

So the debate really should have been, who's the better half back when the team is getting butt raped, and who is the better half when the team is doing the butt raping...

And in both cases it's categorically Shaun Johnson.

fuck is this really being discussed again!
The debate has shifted back to whether or not it should be debated.

I say it should be. There's something going on that warrants discussion.

When we win we look like a team that want's to win, and when we lose we look like a bunch of assholes right from the get go. There's definitely some kind of shape shifting going on here.

And if Lino is playing when we want to win he gets a lot of the credit, and when we lose he gets a lot of blame. It's the same with Shaun Johnson. But the reality is it's the rest of the squad making all this shit happen. It's got nothing to do with either of them any more than it has to do with Gavet or Blair or any of the other players all by them-self. But yet the halves get put up as being the difference makers all the same.

It's weird but there it is. We love our individual heros and villians. Collectives of humans doing things collectively are a little uncool, but that's how you win footy games. So if the team can keep their collective stuff in private, and let us have our individual heros to hurl abuse at, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is only just coming as news to you?

The moderate here have been trying to say that for ages

As the day is long halves are only as good as the pack going forward in front of them. That hasnt changed as long as this game has been played.

Shaun Johnson can have a turd of a game like anyone but the next inane "Shaun Johnson went missing" rolled out for gods sake see who got dominance up front, in the contact, in the play the ball, and figure out who really went "missing".

That was the lead up to my point your cracking on about.

We've got a team full of collectivists, and they're all playing in front of a massive individualist dominated crowd. All the media is individualist blar blar blar...... does anyone actually care?

So we put Shaun Johnson up as being the guy who makes the whole team fire, as if he's the motivator as well as the play maker. But in reality the team doesn't really follow his instructions when it comes to energy levels. He tells them to get up and play harder, so he can do his thing, and some games they do, some games they all just stand back and wait for the opposition to come to them. And when they do it's always right from the get go and isn't because Shaun Johnson or Lino is demanding it from them.

We should just make the biggest, toughest guy in our team the captain and then blame him whenever we lose. Tribal law in effect. Because the big guys have absolutely no problem hanging our little play makers out to dry.
