General team for the Broncos

We are playing the Broncos next weekend I can't wait. But they look sharp really really sharp.

Iafeta has mentioned the lack of foot work on defence by none other than Jerome Ropati, he is going to be doing alot of marking up against Darren Lockyer, he is brillaint on attack.... this doesn't bode well in my mind for the warriors so without further ado my team for next week....

I think our main problem has been our pack. Have you noticed that we cream sides with smaller packs than ours, but get creamed by sides that have large packs (Dragons, Sharks, Bulldogs)?

Have we not learnt anything from the Bulldogs loss?

We need to introduce some size into the backrow. Wairangi is great there, Sione is working well at 13, but Guttenbiel or Luck isnt the answer if we want go forward. We want a player who makes a dent in the line every hitup. Not have expectations that he will make a linebreak every hitup but there will be somewhere in the defensive line a player short from extra players coming up and tackling him.

What I noticed from last nights match is there was very few times that we enjoyed possession inside their 20. All our trys were long ranged ones and ones that came off breaks getting us into their red zone. Gone are the days we rumble forward against big packs anymore. We may look good against a "Tiny" Tigers pack but there is no way in the world we will dominate the Broncos.

Awen was surely missed out there. God the bagging he gets from here, yet when you really take a close look at what he offers, his stats are right up there.
I'd go with your team Iafeta.

There something about the bronco's that brings the best out of the Warriors. Here and over there. And yet, against just about every other team, there's an "IF", mark against them.

Yeah, we always seem to step up our game a few notches against them, and I have no doubt that we will do the same this Sunday.

Thats about the price of it.

He cops a flogging, but generally he'll make 10-12 metres in a hit up and not go to ground.

He'll cop a bagging for lacking creativity, but he'll pop 2-3 offloads a game with more effectiveness than anyone else at the club. Very rarely are his offloads poorly thought out.

He'll cop a bagging for his defence, but he'll make you 20-30 tackles per night no fuss.

Mosh has a point, we do lack something different in our pack against bigger sides, however, I hasten to add its shown up more because we have creativity at halfback, but once he goes to put something on with his five eighth anything he was conjuring up is stifled. So basically, our momentum is stopped right there.

Our outside backs are generally young, but have a lot of ability. Currently they're holding their own, they just aren't getting very good opportunities - and when it all boils down to it, it's very much the five eighths role to be creating opportunities for them.

wat we need in the backrow to acompany koopu and faumina is a fai or rapira. look at most back row they have two workers and another go forward man. rapira should be given a second row spot and take the third hit up in the set of 6. if fai or rapira was included it would also give us that young/enthusiastic approach as well. i have no doubts that rapira is capable of starting...replace players like louise and luck who arnt performing for me

We Need Epalahame Lauaki back in the squad 110 kg second rower, Sonny Fai is a man mountain he looks very simular in size to Tony puletua

one things for sure i'll be shocked if its the same 17 who got flogged, because if it is i can hear a stampede coming

You're starting to think outside the square, young fella.
Now what about more speed on the flanks (Cooper Vuna for Vatavai) with the latter on the bench instead of Luck (for impact as a FORWARD)?

Forget about selecting the Team to play the Broncos, as the Warriors do not have a hope in hell of getting anywhere near beating them.

BRONCOS-36
WARRIORS-10 (I'm just being generous)

Regardless of who they play, and the way they've played. You don't under estimate any team in this competition. But if you want to be realistic as you say that's good. But I sense bias in there myself :p

the reason I wouldn't go that way sir, is that I really don't think that Manu Vatuvei hitups are that effective we would be better off using a genuine prop for that.
I wouldn't like to see poor old cooper on the wing being asked to blaze past defenders when there is no space.
Without space speed just gets you to the defender faster I think, Clinton Toopi has shown that there is a lack of space for our outside guys.
