This will destroy the speculation about him going to the Roosters

Taylor to be named Rabbitohs head coach

Parramatta's caretaker coach Jason Taylor will take over as head coach of South Sydney next season.

The decision is expected to be announced at a press conference this afternoon.

The move will see current Souths coach Shaun McCrae move into a director of football position at the Rabbitohs. Taylor will report to McCrae but the first-grade position will be Taylor's ship to steer.

Taylor leaves the Eels after leading them to an unprecedented nine-game winning streak and into this season's NRL playoffs.

He was the first caretaker coach to reach the NRL playoffs.

Taylor was contracted to become the Souths assistant coach under McCrae next year, but his promotion was hastened by the sacking of Ricky Stuart at the Roosters amid suggestions Taylor was set to be offered that position.

Good for jason taylor. Im sure he would much rather be head coach than assistant coach(what he was going to be at souths)

I half-expected this, especially after JT has brought the Eels back from extinction this year it was unlikely he was going to be under a coach that has only won 2 games this season.

That's a sensible call by the Rabbitohs club.

Completely agree. Otherwise there was a strong possibility that he would of been "lost" to the Roosters.
