Yep he can catch them but he can’t kill them
I see that ex-army guy with the long hair and beard was sitting with Kearney in the box on Saturday.
Can't remember seeing Brian Smith in there this year but he could well be there too.
Anybody know who sits in there on a regular basis and what they do during the match?
His winning percentage for the Warriors has now jumped up to 41%
Usually this year it's
Kearney works back and forth with Cappy/Iro on the game plan and substitutions as the game progresses.
The last guy is the one who is watching all the players GPS tracking. He lets Kearney know whos not running at their maximum, whos not getting involved enough, whos numbers are dropping and needs a sub. All those sorts of things.
The think I like most about SK is he has amazing emotional control.
I don't think his win/loss ration moving up or down has any affect on him emotionally at all.
Those plays have Cappy written all over it IMO...
Kearney was on Radio Sport between 5-5:30pm yesterday.
Darcy Waldegrave asked him about the Brown/Bennett stuff and if has any rivalries or keen to get one over his old mentor. His response was that takes the focus of the team and puts on him. I like that as how often over the last few years has it seemed like the coaches are the stars and not the players.
Also asked about Corvo and how all of the league media keep discussing his impact on the club like it's only him. I thought this is going to be an interesting question and how he answers in diplomatically as we know he's not going to say anything like "Alex didn't do it all". The question was stretched out so I was thinking now he has more time to think of a response. His reply a simple "I don't take any notice of that stuff".
5 more in a row to take it to 50%
Kearney has everything sussed this year as he stated on tonight's '360' "I've even put processes in for myself".
Wow - never realised how much he said that, you know
It was soothing to my lobes those first 5 weeks after the wins, but after that loss it's back to giving me a headache...ya know??
Let's not start a drinking game where you have to skull yer glass/can/bottle everytime Mr S Kearney says "y'know", guys. The alcohol companies would love it, but we wouldn't last one press conference.
Well, as always, everybody's - especially SK - making the right noises after the first loss. He was quite open even before Saturday about the fact that the team weren't playing at anything like 100% (and to be frank, you don't want to fall into the finals being 0-5 having blown your gaskets early, it's best to be humming along and rise for finals footy IMO). I've heard a few fans comment that the team look different this year, more composed and subsequently less panicked, but obviously the proof is in the performance on Friday.
Just a pity it's against the Dragons - since '98 when St George and Illawarra merged it's P 26 W 5. Doesn't fill you with rivers of confidence, eh? And 5/7 when we were 5/5 does take the gloss off...
But I'm certain we'll see a much better performance and more of those y'knows.
I don't think it is such a Pity at all mrblonde!
It will be a very well timed Acid Test to play the Top Side... especially after such a seemingly out of character (so far this season) Limp Loss...
just to see if we can dust ourselves off and get back on the horse again, this early in the season.
That interview on NRL360 was unbelievably frustrating to listen to."Um......um....uhh"has been replaced totally by "You know."
He must have said it 88 times,no bullshit.
He was so good at it that there was about 4 times at least when he said 8 words in one go and there were three sets of "you knows" in those 8'words.!
I have worked out why we have had a good start to the year,SK has very clearly spelt out the game plan so well and said "you know " so many times that actually it has worked and because he has said it the players actually have listened to you know and amazingly it has sunk in and actually now do know.
Kearneys nickname to become "Uno"
SK - you are a legend. If we don’t make the top 4 from here I will be the 1st one to jump in the bandwagon saying the coach is shit
But so far you have done an outstanding job. You saw something in Gelling that most of us couldn’t, you saw Papalii’s potential way before us.
Green, Blair and Tahu was exactly what we needed.
Rise Sir SK
I’m starting to think I may have underestimated you Stephen......
Own it bro. Call it like it is. If he fucks up we can hang him later....
He is the man
Best coaching to turn a side and a season around the Warriors have ever seen.
Shit this lot might even beat Melbourne on a short turn around.
Stunning coaching effort.
Last week I was still ready to sack him
This week he’s an immortal
I don’t know what to think these days
Emotions are so volatile
Might give it a few more rounds before I decide...
Hay Steven. I never doubted you for a second.
