Just heard on radio that Wakefield have agreed to release David Solomona for ANZAC test. News item said he would fly out on Friday. SO I assume that this means that he has been selected, Im wondering if he is the only ESL player coming over

Yes heard this as well. Good news that an ESL player has been relerased. Will there be others.
Solomona has been the glimmer of light in the Wakefield side this year and has developed quite a nice kickng game as well.
I notice Monty hasn't been released from the club ;)

I've noticed that Monty's name hasn't been mentioned anywhere by Bluey or even by our "experts" on the telly, as being a test candidate.

Hope that other English clubs follow suit as realistically Bluey needs to know over the next couple of days whether the players are going to be available. This is because any English players will need to be on their way flying over prior to the naming of the team on Sunday night if they are to have the 5 days preparation time provided for under International rules.

Thought I would attach the following article I saw on www.tvnz.co.nz which inidicated a couple of other English players that are likely being contemplated.

"Solomona gets Anzac test release

Apr 26, 2006

English Suepr League club Wakefield have agreed to release Kiwi second rower David Solomona for next week's Anzac test.

The 28-year-old Solomona, who was in the victorious Tri-Nations team last year, will fly to Brisbane this Saturday after playing for Wakefield against St Helens.

Kiwi coach Brian McLennan is hoping to include other British-based players when he names his squad this weekend, including Thomas Leuluai, who is favoured to take over at halfback from Stacey Jones, and Jason Cayless who missed the Tri-Nations series last year because of injury."

great!!!
solomona is an awesome player. he is one of those guys that has flourished during his time in the ESL unlike ali lauititi who has been on a decline.

We ought to send Wakefield something. Maybe a Kiwis flag or something. Would they appreciate that?

I hope that Toomy L does not get selected. I do not rate him at all.

Thomas L has been playing really well for Harliquins, always scoring trys.

The Warriors should not have released him.

He will be at 7 for the Kiwis. (Swanley's prediction).

yes I'd like to see young Thomas or Hohaia in at 7, they are both halfbacks.
Leuluai has been going well alright and the pace of the ESL is tough, so he'll be ready.
Jason Cayless would also fit in well if he is released.

He's been playing really good footy mate. He just needed to get
away from Daniel.

Cheers

wouldn't be too worried about ESL players getting here too far in advance of the game. Just remember Stace clocking up the air points last November and it didn't seem to do him any harm.

I'm sure that they won't be slumming it in cattle class anyways
