When it was first announced to be going to Qatar I was commuting a lot more. More time to listen to Radio Sport. One question.
How the faq is this being played in Qatar?……
That was 10-plus years ago. They had correspondents from different parts of the world. I remember one of the English correspondents bringing up how it was the usual FIFA politics and backroom deals. He pointed out that the time of year the World Cup is typically played the temperature in Qatar wasn't really ideal for football. I'm not sure what has happened with that since then. There have been other issues more recently around the event that have created more attention.
Although I used to play soccer or football when I was young I haven't been a big watcher. After watching a round of NRL matches on a weekend it's a bit hard to squeeze in other codes. I do often start watching more when the World Cups come around.
What amazes me is the passing. Ok, I stopped playing at such a young age so our passing was terrible and it might have improved if I played another year or two. But still watching them cover a lot of ground while moving the ball between teammates just with their feet and the amount of control they have is impressive.
