Several things have been annoying me recently with Sky TV and i'd love to here what other Sky subscribers think.

1, As we subscribe to Sky for Sky sport does it not strike anyone else as usery that they then want subscribers to then pay again for what they call pay per view events?

2, They offer Sky sport in HD. However i noticed that durring the RWC that when compared to TVONE and TV3 and Prime (all being screened through MySky+ like Sky sport) that the quality of the HD for Sky sport was of a noticably poorer quality than ONE 3 and Prime.

3, Is bidding on race horses and poker really sport? To me they are not.

Sky sucks but you can't do with out it.

PPV's suck but I still buy them. I am a sucker.

All I ask is every NRL game live and in HD...

The Sky setup is a rort but when they have exclusive rights and thus no competition, they can do that sort of thing.

The whole idea of package deals rubs me the wrong way - why charge me for channels I don't want, instead of letting me use a pick 'n' mix approach?

Incidentally, I used to watch poker all the time when we had Sky. And yeah, I wouldn't call it a sport, but it fits that channel better than any other, methinks. Very watchable.

I just watch the NRL online now and save pocket loads of both time and money.

Sky is a massive rip off.

I got screwed by them over a technical issue and as such have been streaming all my sport for the last 2 yrs and have rarely ever missed a game I wanted to see.

Sky can eat a dick.

I can understand the PPV fees. The promoters sell their product to the customer using sky as a middle man. Sky would make minimal money from the transaction. The other sports content on the normal channels has been paid for by sky to broadcast and in return you pay for a subscription. PPV events aren't bought or bid for by SKY and they don't set the prices, they simply let their services be used as an avenue.

Yeah, Sky aren't the ones the decide to charge for PPVs...they actually do a good job of getting most League/UFC events imo. That's all I really care about too.

If they lose the NRL rights then sports is getting ****ed off right away though.

What really annoys me is that they always give new people good deals like free sport for 3 months but what about looking after loyal customers with good deals. I know they already got us hooked, but it still sucks.

Say you're gunna cancel your membership. My mum tried to ditch sky and they gave her movies free for 3 months lol

lol talk about setting your sights to high huh. The salesman/woman would be better off starting off with selling ice to an Eskimo first then move onto the rugby channel with me.

the rugby channel is only worth it if you really like watching the northern hemisphere club games and the sevens (only the nz event is shown live on sky sport). it also used to be the only place you could watch the six nations games but this year all of those games are being shown on espn.

there is also a weekly half hour highlights show that sky produce that airs on sky sport called northern exposure that can keep you generally up to date with how the northern competition is going and some of the kiwis that are playing in it.

isky is probably one of the few really good things about sky. I can't afford sky myself but I know someone that has it and they were very generous enough to let me use their account to sign up for isky. So I can still watch live sport and because I'm with orcon (some other internet providers do it too) the stuff I watch on isky doesn't count towards my monthly data cap.
