Loose forward Sione Faumuina will move within one match tonight (Saturday) of becoming the latest Vodafone Warrior to reach a major NRL milestone this year.

Faumuina makes his 99th first-grade appearance when the Vodafone Warriors tackle Penrith at CUA Stadium.

He began his first-grade career with Canberra in 2001, making his debut against the Vodafone Warriors as it happened.

He played 11 times for the Raiders before moving to Auckland in 2002.
So far this season Ruben Wiki and Steve Price have both reached the 250-game mark, Awen Guttenbeil has broken through the 150 barrier, Tony Martin has played his 100th first-grade game and Jerome Ropati and Louis Anderson have reached the 50-game mark.

TEAM

• Changes were made to the originally named line-up on Thursday.
• Fullback Brent Webb failed a fitness test, ruling him out of making his 99th first-grade appearance this weekend.
• Cooper Vuna was called into the side to play on the right wing with Patrick Ah Van moving to fullback.
• Epalahame Lauaki was added to the squad as 18th man. He has recently returned from surgery after tearing pectoral muscles against Wests Tigers on March 25. He has played twice for the Waitakere Rangers in the Bartercard Cup in the past two weeks.
• The team had a final training run at Mt Smart Stadium on Friday morning before flying to Sydney in the afternoon.

CASUALTY WARD

• Todd Byrne (arm) has been training with the team again after breaking his arm against Cronulla on May 27.
• Brent Webb is out this week but is expected to be available for the August 5 match against Cronulla.

BARTERCARD CUP

• Only two matches are scheduled in the second week of a split round in the Bartercard Cup.
• Two Vodafone Warriors first grade squad members are due to play for their teams.
• Evarn Tuimavave is set to appear for the Auckland Lions and Sonny Fai for the Counties Manukau Jetz when the two teams meet in Maori TV’s live match from North Harbour Stadium on Monday night.

STATISTICS

• Interchange forward Wairangi Koopu makes his 51st consecutive NRL appearance on Saturday night. He started his run by playing the last eight matches in 2004, followed by all 24 in 2005 and this weekend’s game will be his 19th this season.
• Loose forward Sione Faumuina makes his 99th first-grade appearance on Saturday night, his 88th for the club (he played 11 times for Canberra). Faumuina needs four points to bring up 150 first-grade points.
• Steve Price scored his fifth try of the season in the Vodafone Warriors’ loss to Parramatta, matching fellow prop Ruben Wiki. No other regular NRL props can match their try-scoring feats.
• The Vodafone Warriors’ regular front rowers have now scored a total of 22 of the club’s 75 tries so far this season – while Wiki and Price have five each, Evarn Tuimavave has four and so does hooker Nathan Fien. Interchange hooker George Gatis has one and Lance Hohaia has three.
• The regular outside backs have 31 tries between them – Brent Webb (9), Simon Mannering (7), Manu Vatuvei (7), Tony Martin (6) and Patrick Ah Van (2).
• With Evarn Tuimavave not selected and Brent Webb injured, five players are set to extend their run of appearing in all of the club’s NRL matches this season. Saturday night’s match will be the 19th on end for Tony Martin, Grant Rovelli, Nathan Fien, Wairangi Koopu and Micheal Luck.

Good on Sione, while he hasn't had a perfect season this year he has played well in general since he has joined us.
