If it is true, I'd be interested to know what's caused him to have a look. In my opinion, the culture of the club is the key to going forward, along with sustained junior development. In other words, providing an environment that encourages success, encourages comraderie and teamwork, encourages respect between team-mates and club management, etc. In my opinion there's no reason why this club can't be a great place to be for a player, if the management is dead right.

Whitehaven RL forum are reporting that the rumoured deal has fallen through as below.

"heard today that the deal with simon mannering is off due to him no being able to obtain a work permit sad news if true"

So that should kill that off, true or not.

Reasons that he may join a tier 2 team? Whitehaven have made their comp' GF 2 years running and seem to have the criteria for SL promotion if they win this year. If they do the sticking point seems to be a stadium upgrade which they are confident about securing.

On the LU forum Skinner *waving* has heard this and other rumours at his end too. I'd say that something is afoot but whether it pans out is another matter.

So the fall through of the work permit is not correct and he is still rumoured to be coming?
