General Signing UK players

I have been watching a fair bit of ESL lately and they have got a heap of talent i think would cut it easy in the NRL, was just watching National League 1 side, Hull Kingston Rovers, and they tore SL big guns Warrington to bits with their speed and flair (very reminiscent of an '02 warriors squad) and as a Reserve grade team i assume their players would be quite keen for an NRL contract at a cheaper price than their ESL counterparts. Their Fullback, Cockhane, was a very flambeouyant speedy character and so was their winger, Ford, who has scored 34 times out of the last 36 games. i'd be looking to this treasure chest, look at how well Carney has taken to the NRL.

what do you guys think?

Yeah, I suppose if we can find some good, cheap talent over there it would be worth a look.

National League 1 is very poor compared to SL. HKR have spent a lot of money hopeing to get promotion.

I would like us to look at the ESL for some no nonsense up the jumper props when Price and Wiki retire.

They all know that the NRL is a tough comp. and are always saying they would like to "prove" themselves in it.

however remember that esl players get paid more than nrl players.

Yeah, but we're buying up and coming Aussies for cheap, why not up and coming english players for around the same price.

Hull KR made Warrington look silly at times though Swanley and they're cap is a lot stricter than SL isn't it? i know they can only have 1 overseas player on their quota etc.

The comp may be poor but they're winning games against SL teams. could be some good buys...maybe the next Adrian Morley?

Yeah but if they can't break into the ESL I'm sure they would relish the chance to break into the best league comp in the world.

The ESL has improved alot in the last 5 years.....it probably isn't throughing up the out and out stars like the british game was 20 years ago BUT it is throwing up a hell of a lot more quality players just below that super star status and you can see that now in the lower divisions of the British game. 10 years ago a northern ford side would struggle to foot it with a bartercard team, now in all honesty most of the first division would cut it in ESL.
Are there any players we could sign that would help us? loads of them.
Are there any players that will win us the title, probably not.

If we CAREFULL picked out players in the first division in targeted areas i think we'd do well for ourselves.

Don't use the exchange rate.

ESL players are not paid a lot more than NRL players.

They also have a salary cap. The average wage in the ESL is very low, only the stars get paid a lot.
