Toopi and Faumuina used to be my favourite attacking players, but their passes are too unexpected, and their quality makes them impossible to catch half the time. There has to be a way to have red hot attack without trying to force the miracle balls all afternoon.

There is & clearys done it you put faums in a posision where the passess will work & limit toopis brain explosions. Trust me once our "new" team gels we will look a LOT better.

yep it's called having a brain

whats wrong with the odd stupid pass ?
havnt ya heard of the old razzle dazzle ?
makes the game exciting....

Oh i love offloads, flick passes etc, infact it's one of my favourite parts of the game. but this thread commented on STUPID passes. ones that aren't on. Say when Toopi's getting tackled and there's 5 guys on him/around him. and he just throws it in the air which leads to either a tackler catching it or a knock on. there is a time and a place for an offload and Toopi just can't pick that most of the time

The person making the desicion on passing shouldn't be the passer but the supporter, if someone calls foir the pass and you think you can make it, it should be thrown.

There's just ONE tiny problem. How can you keep Toop from having those annoying brain explotions?

Simple. You give him the space he requires to attack fluidly with, instead of handing him the ball and expecting him to make something out of nothing.

Ive been really dissapointed with toopi this year. You can say he hasbn't had the halves and hes trying to make somethibg out of nothing but hey , please dont blindly throw the ball to nobody when you are on the first or second tackle 10-20 meters of your own try line. That is just plain ridiculous. I mean c'mon, hes a senior player now, not some damn rookie. The guy needs a slap. Yeah thats it, give him the bash in the changing rooms ruben, everytime he does it.pls.

If other players are calling for the ball, (and I'm not saying definitively that they are or aren't), they should be responsible for handling it when it is passed. It isn't all on Toopi's head. If all of his passes were sticking, even the wild ones only ten metres out, this wouldn't even be an issue.

Toopi's & Sione's unorthodox passes only become "stupid" when they dont come off, either as a result an error by the receiver or the passer,...but no doubt you would call them "brilliant" passes when they do come off. I'd agree however that there are some situations (in the Warriors own red zone and its the first or second tackle) that such passes would be foolhardy and downright suicidal.

Easy. Drop him

They really need to practise catching low passes because quite often Toopis passses are catchable but the supporting player just isnt in the right position and fumbles about. even if they only catch a few quite often it could result in a try

there is a time and place to try and throw the miracle ball. in a test match when you have just gotten the ball back and are about 10 out from your own line and are going down in a tackle and almost on the ground is quite simply not the time to try and throw a miracle ball. this is what toopi did and the kiwis lost the ball on about tackle 2.

I agree. That doesn't disagree with my point, either. If Leuluai had called for it, (and I've no idea whether or not this is the case), he had a responsibility to follow up on that and catch the ball. If he had, and we'd broken the line or scored or made good field position out of the play, I don't think we'd even be discussing this.
